At the time of its release in 1998, the 996-generation 911 represented the largest, most intensive updates to the model since the car’s introduction in late 1963. With a significantly sleeker, more fluid shape, a dramatically updated interior, and water-cooled engines, the 996 is easy to differentiate from any 911 from before or since. For 2002, the 996 received a slew of updates addressing various customer requests. More rigid bodywork gave the car sharper handling and the new 3.6L Flat-6 offered 320hp; an increase of 20hp over the initial 996. The headlamp design – a common criticism of the car – was brought in line with the Turbo models which had been released in late 1999. Larger air intakes and new wheel designs added to the mild, yet striking, visual updates.
By 2004, Porsche was preparing to switch production to the upcoming 997-generation 911. However, to celebrate the 911's 40th anniversary, the company released what may be one of the most well-rounded versions as a special, limited edition. Badged "40 Jahre" (German for 40 years), the anniversary edition came standard with the X51 Powerkit for an increase of 25hp over the standard model (to 345hp), the M030 sport suspension, and a distinctive appearance with a Turbo front bumper and exclusive GT Silver Metallic paint. Inside, every car received a full Natural Leather interior, aluminum-look instrument cluster rings, and a body-color center console for a luxurious - yet sporting - feel. With only 1,963 produced worldwide, the 40th Anniversary 911 is a particularly collectible variant of the 996-generation 911.
The investment-grade 2004 Porsche 911 Carrera 40th Anniversary Commemorative Edition Coupe (#541 of 1,963) featured here is finished in its model-exclusive color combination of GT Silver Metallic over an impeccably kept Natural Grey full leather interior. This exquisite example has been meticulously maintained and recently serviced, ensuring it is ready for its next caretaker. We are are proud to offer this limited-production, highly sought-after model to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who understands and appreciates the investment potential of this up-and-coming classic!
