1938 Ford Custom Roadster Some builds are about changing a car.
Others are about creating something that could never have come from
a factory. This 1938 Roadster is one, voted as one of America's
Most Beautiful Roadsters! Custom-built and assembled by Kugel
Komponents, this all-steel full-custom roadster is a remarkable
combination of classic Ford design, one-off metalwork, modern
performance, and craftsmanship throughout. From its unmistakable
proportions to the smallest hand-finished detail, This 1938 was
built with a clear visionand the execution to bring that vision to
life. The transformation begins with the body. The beltline was
extended two inches, while the A-pillars were laid back to
complement the revised headlamp angle. The rear quarters were
extended eight inches, with the lower quarters extended another two
inches, giving the roadster a longer, lower, more purposeful
profile. The convertible top was shaved, and virtually every piece
of exterior trim received special attention. The window openings,
latches, and exterior trim were all handcrafted from brass,
creating a level of detail that simply cannot be achieved with
off-the-shelf parts. The finish is equally distinctive. The body
wears a beautiful PPG Hot Hues Champagne two-tone paint, giving
this 1938 Roadster an elegant presence while allowing all of the
custom metalwork and revised body lines to stand on their own.
Power comes from a Redline Performance GM LS3 fuel-injected V8,
paired with a 4L60E automatic overdrive transmission. The modern
LS3 brings serious performance to this traditional-looking Ford,
while the overdrive transmission makes the car equally suited to
enjoying the open road. Underneath, the build is just as
impressive. The car rides on a Kugel Komponents custom-modified TCI
chassis, fitted with a polished and plated fully independent front
and rear suspension. Coil overs on all four corners, while power
rack-and-pinion steering and power Wilwood disc brakes provide
modern driving and stopping performance. Rather than simply
restoring the cabin, Ron Magnus created an entirely custom
environment. Four Toyota Supra bucket seats were transformed with
two-tone leather, flowing into a front-to-rear center console and
surrounded by multiple one-off interior trim spears. The dashboard
starts with a 1940 Ford dash, which has been modified to
accommodate a custom gauge cluster. Vintage Air keeps the cabin
comfortable, while heated seats add another modern touch. A tilt
column and banjo-style steering wheel bring together the old-school
character and modern drivability, and a Even the wheels were
carefully selected to complete the look, with Billet Specialties
GTO wheels giving the roadster the final touch of attitude. Price
