1957 Ford Thunderbird - 312 V8 - Tremec 5-Speed

Offered for sale is this beautiful 1957 Ford Thunderbird finished in classic Colonial White. Coming from a Ford collection, this Thunderbird is an older restoration that has been very well cared for and remains in fantastic overall condition.

Power comes from the legendary 312 cubic-inch V8, but what really sets this Thunderbird apart is its 5-speed manual transmission conversion. The original heavy automatic transmission was removed and replaced with a modern Tremec 5-speed, along with a new rear differential featuring 4.11 gearing.

The result completely changes the driving experience. The hydraulic clutch is extremely light and easy to operate, while the 5-speed transmission makes the car feel noticeably quicker and more responsive. Without the power loss associated with the original automatic, the 312 V8 feels like it gained another 50 horsepower. At the same time, the overdrive 5th gear makes it comfortable and relaxed at highway speeds, power steering and brakes make it very easy to handle.

This is an excellent setup for someone who actually wants to drive and enjoy a classic Thunderbird.

The Colonial White paint presents beautifully, the body is very nice and straight with excellent chrome, and the car has the clean, elegant appearance that made the 1957 Thunderbird one of Ford's most recognizable designs.

It currently rides on 17-inch Torq Thrust wheels, giving the car a slightly more aggressive stance while still fitting its classic styling. The original fender skirts are included with the sale.

This Thunderbird runs and drives fantastic. The combination of the 312 V8, Tremec 5-speed, hydraulic clutch, and upgraded rear differential makes it much more enjoyable to drive than a typical automatic-equipped example.
