Aston Martin DB9 V12 Touchtronic, 2008. Three owners, 81,931 km,
service books from new.
"You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself
become the villain." A Batman quote, I know, not an Aston. But it
fits the DB9 uncannily well. Because this is the car that saved
Aston Martin when the company was dangling on the edge of the
abyss, and at the same time the car that purists turned their noses
up at back then, because it was supposedly too easy, too
accessible, too little tortured.
The DB9 arrived in 2004, designed by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker,
built on the brand new VH platform, and it did something Aston had
rarely managed until then: it not only looked divine, it delivered
on its promises. Under the bonnet sat a 5.9-litre V12 that is
essentially two DB7 straight-sixes who bumped into each other at a
party, good for 476 bhp and a sound you would normally have to book
a night at the opera to hear. And then that name. No DB8, because
Aston felt a DB8 would imply a V8, and they didn't want that. So
they simply skipped one. Sometimes it really is that easy.
Remember how James Bond drove a DBS in Casino Royale, but the first
one Craig was handed was actually little more than a dressed-up
DB9? Exactly. This is the car that formed the basis for the image
an entire generation holds of Aston Martin. The DB9 is the family
features, the jawline, the gaze. Everything that came afterwards is
a variation on this theme.
The story continues on our website, where the full file is kept as
well. 86 photographs. The service history, scanned in full. The
Carfax report. Paint thickness measured panel by panel. The
original factory brochure to page through. A timeline from 7
January 2008 to today, with every owner and the mileage year by
year in a single graph.
Every car here follows the same route: first pre-market, then the

arrived, it stays with us in Katwijk. This one is in the showroom
and you are welcome to come and see it, no appointment needed. You
buy it here at a fixed price: no bidding, no waiting. Our showroom
in Katwijk, 30 km from Amsterdam Schiphol, is open Mon-Fri 9-18 and
Sat 10-17. Call ahead and it will be standing ready, with someone
free for you.
