GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this extensively modified
1974 MG Midget for your consideration. This Midget comes in a
beautiful Black Tulip exterior over a Charcoal interior featuring
Miata seats. Powering this MG is a 1300cc inline 4 paired with a
River Gate 5-speed manual transmission out of a Datsun 210. The
engine was bored 0.020 over using APT components, including a hot
street cam and slightly dished pistons, resulting in a compression
ratio of slightly under 10:1. This Midget has been thoughtfully
upgraded with some great features such as; disc front brakes, a
clam shell hood, Spridgetech Bugeye Bonnet, custom exhaust with a
Glasspac muffler, aluminum radiator, Western Auto Cyclone wheels,
Miata roll bar, Weber DGV carburetor, and a new tonneau cover. The
body and paint work was completed by Larry Mulanix, adding to the
overall quality and presentation of this unique British roadster.
This Midget has plenty more to offer and is a great example of a
performance-oriented MG with thoughtful upgrades throughout. Drive
this one out of our showroom or have us assist with shipping it to
you anywhere in the United States! Don't hesitate to call us with
any questions or for more information.
The MG Midget was introduced in 1961 as an affordable, lightweight
British sports car and remained in production through 1980. The
1974 model was part of the Midget's fourth-generation production,
which incorporated several changes over earlier versions as MG
continued to develop the popular roadster. The Midget was known for
its compact dimensions, responsive handling, simple mechanical
design, and open-air driving experience. The 1974 model year
featured the 1,275cc version of the A-series inline-four engine and
continued MG's tradition of offering an accessible two-seat sports
car. With its small size and classic British styling, the Midget
has become a popular platform for enthusiasts who enjoy
personalizing and improving these lightweight roadsters.
