1961 Nash Metropolitan Convertible- We have for sale what is quite possibly the finest Metropolitan in existence. Story goes that the original owner in Iowa bought it for his wife and she refused to drive it, so it sat in their garage for many years until their son came of driving age and he drove it a little. The car, which did not need any restoration at all, was sent by the family to Metropolitan Pit Stop (metpitstop.com) in North Hollywood, California, and they were tasked with a no-expense-spared frame-off restoration. Every nut, bolt, and washer was removed and restored or replaced. Engine, transmission, and differential were all rebuilt to factory specs. Body was stripped to bare metal and painted inside and out, top to bottom with the original and correct Black over Frost White paint. All chrome was replated and the stainless was polished before reassembly. All mechanical parts were removed, restored with new components to factory specs and then powdered coated. Brakes, suspension, wiring, and on and on… Has the authentic Grey diamond-patterned upholstery trimmed in white vinyl. Car has been driven a gentle 2,600 miles on perfectly dry days since this restoration. Was recently sent back from Iowa to The Metropolitan Pit Stop for service, valve adjustment, and clutch and brake fluid flush. Metropolitan Pit Stop sold it for the first time out of the original owner’s family in 2024 and it is now here in the Carolinas. You can put the top down, turn the AM radio on, and cruise just like 1961… If only the best will suit you, here it is
