THE 1969 CAMARO THAT GM NEVER BUILT! This incredible 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS 396 combines authentic factory-original restoration, legendary Camaro RS/SS styling, prestigious show history, Jerry MacNeish certification, and a modern high-performance drivetrain. Finished in highly desirable Hugger Orange with black stripes, black vinyl top, and Black Houndstooth Deluxe interior, this award-winning first-generation Camaro is a serious collector car with serious performance.
Originally built at the Norwood, Ohio assembly plant in October 1968, this 1969 Camaro was born as an RS/SS 396 with Rally Sport (Z22) and Super Sport (Z27) equipment. It features options including tinted glass, center console, spoiler equipment, power steering, disc brakes, chambered exhaust, and more. The car was professionally rotisserie restored and retains most of its factory-original sheet metal along with numerous original and date-code-correct components.
This 1969 Camaro RS/SS 396 was certified by renowned Camaro expert Jerry MacNeish of Camaro Hi-Performance on May 8, 2008. The complete certification report, Certificate of Authenticity, judging sheets, and extensive award documentation are included.
The Camaro has an impressive show history, including multiple Winter Nationals and Super Chevy Show wins, Platinum Certificates from the World Wide Camaro Club, Gold Awards from the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, and a Swan Award at the Lake Mirror Classic Auto Festival Concours d’Elegance. In 2007, it was awarded First Place at the F-Body Gathering in Atlanta and was invited to be displayed alongside the new Camaro concept convertible.
While the car was not equipped with its original matching-numbers engine and transmission when acquired by MS CLASSIC CARS, the team took a unique approach. Rather than simply install a modern drivetrain, the upgrades were completed discreetly while maintaining the appearance and character of a factory-style 1969 Camaro.
Under the hood is a new NATS Engines 462 cubic-inch V8 producing an impressive 491 horsepower and 562 lb-ft of torque. The big-block Chevrolet engine features forged pistons, Comp camshaft and valvetrain components, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, Holley 750 CFM carburetor, MSD ignition, 4-core radiator, date-code components, correct-style valve covers, chambered exhaust, and extensive factory-style detailing.
Power is delivered through a Tremec TKX 5-speed manual transmission, McLeod Super Street Pro dual-friction clutch, Denny’s driveshaft, and the original date-code 12-bolt Positraction rear end upgraded with 3.73 gears. A Borgeson close-ratio power steering box and rebuilt suspension and braking systems complete the performance upgrades.
The exterior features show-quality Hugger Orange paint, black stripes, black vinyl top, Rally Sport and Super Sport equipment, Endura front bumper, rear spoiler, restored trim, SS hood louvers, correct-style wheels, and reproduction Goodyear Wide Tread GT tires.
Inside, the Camaro features its highly desirable Black Houndstooth Deluxe interior, restored bucket seats, rear seat, center console, Hurst shifter, factory-style gauges, simulated wood trim, carpeting, rubber floor mats, and a restored trunk with matching spare and jack assembly.
The undercarriage has been carefully restored and detailed, including the original subframe, floors, suspension, braking system, fuel tank, and numerous correct and date-code components with factory-style markings.
MS CLASSIC CARS acquired this remarkable Camaro in June 2026 and invested $31,705.73 in service and detailing, fully documented with an invoice.
This is far more than a restored 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. It is an award-winning, Jerry MacNeish-certified Camaro RS/SS 396 with legendary first-generation Camaro styling, extensive documentation, prestigious show history, and nearly 500 horsepower.
