"The Fox-body Ford Mustang is one of the most enduring muscle car
icons. Maligned for its various faults as it is loved for its many
strengths and its huge impact on the performance market, this
imperfect creation was offered from the 1979 to 1993 model years, a
testament to Ford's willingness to squeeze every last drop of juice
out of its platforms." Hagerty.com
For consignment, a 1993 Ford Mustang GT showing 62,237 miles, but
the true miles are unknown due to a PA title exemption. Hagerty
continues, "While the Fox chassis would spawn seemingly endless
cousins in the coupe, sedan, and even the luxury segment, it's the
Mustang that has managed to stay at the front of the conversation
amongst collectors, racers, and customizers, thanks to its winning
combination of affordable horsepower, easy modification, and sheer
availability."
Exterior
This pampered pony wears the aptly named Vibrant White, contrasted
by the decidedly dark black canvas top and side mirrors. The white
coveringcontinues on to cover the rocker panel extensions along
with the open fascia and front and rear bumper covers. Black lined
headlights add a bit of aggression while the luggage rack in back
brings it back to practicality. 17-inch SVE wheels are sharp, shiny
chrome and carry staggered sized ZR rated 40 series tires. And
while we're looking at the profile, the unmistakable five point oh
emblem looms large on the fender, striking fear into red light
warriors for generations. Out back, the wide tail lights are
rendered monochromatic with white covers, a recognizable and iconic
Foxbody field mark. Imperfections include chips throughout,
edgewear, scuffs, inclusions, chin scrapes, and discoloration.
Interior
Pleated map pockets are the only extra feature you get on the door
with gray door panels, standard switchgear and door pulls present.
The doors present well but the elastic on the map pockets has given
up. Black leather bucket sport seats live up front, the driver's
showing some slight wear and patina wrinkling but equipped with the
power lumbar switches. The passenger seat and rear 2+2 are clean.
The black steering wheel holds an airbag and two small horn
buttons, leading to a simple instrument panel that is classic in
its analog configuration with just the pertinent information.
Simple too is the center stack with dials for A/C control and a pop
up screen for the AM/FM radio and reverse camera. The familiar
T-handle shifter in the center console in a matching black plastic
base with cupholders and 12 volt ports. Medium pile black carpet
covers the floor and the trunk is fully finished in gray panels,
currently housing a Precision Power amplifier and spaghetti bowl of
wires.
Drivetrain
The now legendary 5.0 liter V8 is under the hood with 205
horsepower and an AOD 4-speed automatic transmission attached.
Power is routed to the Ford 8.8" rear with 3.27 gears and TracLoc.
The bay presents cleanly with some evidence of use.
Undercarriage
Surface rust and residual oil but otherwise clean conditions are
found underneath where factory headers lead to dual exhaust through
FlowMaster mufflers and termination out back. Power brakes are
supplied as front disc and rear drum and suspension consists of
coil springs front and rear with a 4 link in back.
Drive-Ability
Fox bodies have become the stuff of legends and whether an LX, a
GT, or the top of the food chain, the SVT Cobra, they present as
comfortable and tossable little cars not overburdened with
electronics or traction control or fancy sensors. This car's
naturally robust exhaust note and willingness to go from the
starting gate to a trot is still evident. The engine runs well and
all functions on the car operate as they should. While Classic Auto
Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of
our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working
at the time of your purchase.
The legendary Foxbodies are hot, hot, hot. Think of how many
different Mustangs have since been produced and you'll realize this
is the OG of the modern Mustang high performance movement. And this
one has a retractable top. What's not to love?
