The 1984 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 was part of the second-generation
Camaro, which Chevrolet produced from 1970 through 1981, followed
by the third-generation Camaro introduced for the 1982 model year.
The third-generation Camaro featured a more aerodynamic design with
a long hood, short rear deck, and a hatchback-style body,
representing a significant departure from the styling of the
previous generation. The Z28 returned as a performance-oriented
model and was offered with sportier suspension, distinctive
exterior styling, and performance-focused equipment. For 1984, the
Camaro lineup continued to build on the third-generation platform,
with the Z28 serving as one of Chevrolet's key performance
offerings in the growing sport compact and performance car market
of the era.
