This is an all-original 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix that still presents
like a restoration. It is not. The paint, interior, engine
compartment, and trunk are original and have been carefully
maintained rather than rebuilt. You won't find another example
anywhere like this car. The car runs and drives straight and true
and like it looks.
Powertrain is the original 389 4-barrel V8 with automatic and a
3.23 rear axle. All numbers matching. The engine has never been
disassembled. Rare factory 8-lug aluminum wheels. Original T3
headlights, original spare, and original Pontiac floor mats. The
only item not original in the vehicle is the radiator which was
replaced 3 years ago.
Mileage is just over 48,300 actual miles from new. Three-owner car.
The car was originally delivered in Rhode Island and remained there
until recently when it was brought to Connecticut by the third
owner. The second owner kept it for nearly 40 years. The original
window sticker is still with the car, along with the Ident-O-Plate,
original owner's manual, and service booklet.
When we acquired the car it had three known-age issues: a cracked
dash pad (common on original examples), and a slight leak in the
rear main seal. The dash pad has been sent out for restoration and
the rear main seal has been replaced. Everything else works,
including the clock!
The Grand Prix has won multiple awards throughout the Northeast,
including Best in Show, Best in Class and Best Unrestored. A trunk
full of trophies are included It looks like a restored car because
it has been stored, detailed, and cherished by the prior
owners.
