This 1973 Ford Mustang Convertible is a remarkably well-preserved
example that has reportedly spent a number of years on display in a
museum. Presented in blue over a matching blue interior with a
black convertible top, this Mustang retains an exceptionally honest
appearance and is believed to remain largely original throughout.
Rather than having undergone a full restoration, the car presents
with the character expected from a carefully preserved vintage
Mustang.
The blue exterior paint appears to be largely original and shows
some age, including a somewhat dull finish in areas, but that
preservation is a significant part of the car's appeal. The body
retains its factory-style trim, chrome bumpers, Mustang badging,
and period-correct wheels with raised-white-letter tires. The
exterior has not been overly restored or modified, giving the car
an authentic presentation that is increasingly difficult to find on
more than 50-year-old Mustangs.
Inside, the Mustang presents especially well. The blue bucket-seat
interior remains clean and attractive, with matching rear seating,
door panels, carpeting, center console, and dashboard. The
factory-style instrumentation and AM radio remain in place, and the
interior's overall condition stands out against the naturally aged
exterior. The black power convertible top allows the car to quickly
transition from a traditional coupe-like profile to open-air
cruising.
Under the hood is Ford's 351ci V8, rated at 177 horsepower and
paired with an automatic transmission and 2.75:1 rear axle ratio.
Equipment includes power steering, power brakes, front disc brakes,
and a functioning heater. According to the previous owner, the car
remains original with the exception of a newer dual exhaust
system.
With its largely original presentation, attractive and
well-preserved interior, 351 V8 power, automatic transmission, and
history of museum display, this 1973 Mustang offers something
different from the typical restored example. It is an appealing
choice for the enthusiast who values originality and preservation,
with its aged exterior finish serving as an honest reminder of the
car's history rather than hiding it beneath a modern
restoration.
