This 1965 Ford Mustang Hardtop is a beautifully presented example
of Ford's iconic first-generation pony car, finished in classic
Wimbledon White over a tan interior. Its clean, understated color
combination is complemented by GT-style exterior appointments,
chrome wheels wrapped in redline tires, dual exhaust, and the
unmistakable proportions of the early Mustang coupe. The car has
also reportedly earned awards four times at the Indianapolis World
of Wheels.
Under the hood is Ford's desirable 289ci 4V V8, factory rated at
225 horsepower, paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The
combination gives this Mustang the engaging driving experience
enthusiasts look for in an early V8 car. Additional equipment
includes power steering, power brakes, and front disc brakes.
Documentation with the car shows it was originally finished in
Wimbledon White and equipped with the 289 4V V8, GT Equipment
Package, four-speed transmission, front bench seat with center
armrest, power steering, Ford air conditioning, AM radio, tinted
glass, and 6.95x14 white-sidewall tires. The original pricing
document lists a total price of $3,393.65 and shows the Mustang was
assembled at Ford's Dearborn, Michigan plant.
One of the most distinctive features is the tan front bench seat
with its fold-down center armrest. Unlike the conventional
bucket-seat arrangement found in many Mustangs, this setup provides
a unique interior appearance while retaining the factory-style
presentation. The cabin also features the classic five-dial Mustang
instrumentation, floor-mounted four-speed shifter, AM radio, and
under-dash Ford air conditioning.
The engine compartment presents cleanly with a period-correct
appearance, including the gold air cleaner and valve covers
associated with the 289 4V. Combined with its Wimbledon White
finish, GT equipment, four-speed manual, factory air conditioning,
power steering, front disc brakes, distinctive bench-seat interior,
documentation, and show history, this 1965 Mustang offers an
especially interesting combination of early Mustang style, V8
performance, and uncommon factory equipment.
Price does not include applicable tax, title, license, processing,
and/or $240 documentation fees.
