1961 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II HJ Mulliner Drophead Coupe (Convertible) in Phoenix, AZ

This is a rare and desirable 1961 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II H.J. Mulliner Drophead Coupe that can be shown or used for concours or touring events. It is one of only 25 original LHD HJ Mulliner drophead coupes made over the three-year production run of the Silver Cloud II and is an original LHD, U.S.-specification car built to H.J. Mulliner's Design No. 7504 Adaptation. This air-conditioned Rolls has benefited from substantial restoration by marque specialists and has been restored as needed. This Silver Cloud II was ordered by Mr. Samuel G. Rautbord of Chicago, being delivered on August 29, 1961. The build specifications included LHD, Whitehall Grey exterior with Red pinstriping, Scarlet interior, power windows, a rear center armrest, and a heavy-gauge frame. Mr. Rautbord owned the Rolls until his passing in 1979. Around that time, Mr. Lewis Rudin acquired the Rolls and enjoyed it through 2001. After Mr. Rudin passed, his wife, Mrs. Basha Szymankska, kept the Rolls in her collection until 2019. While under her stewardship, the Rolls was mechanically recommissioned by Automotive Restorations of Stratford, Connecticut, in 2015. In 2019, Mr. Elliot Cuker acquired the Rolls and continued the restoration through Automotive Restorations, completing a repaint in Porcelain White and installing a new Everflex convertible top and new carpets. A Massachusetts dealer acquired the Rolls in 2023 and had it serviced by expert Mr. John Robison. Over $150,000 was invested in its restoration. The exterior of the Rolls is in overall excellent condition. The newer Porcelain White paint was in excellent condition and was wrapped by its present owner in Black vinyl. The wrap can be removed by its next owner, returning its exterior to Porcelain White or keep it as it is presently. The newer Burgundy Everflex power convertible top is in excellent condition and comes with a newer Burgundy convertible top boot cover. The chrome brightwork is in excellent overall condition, with only minor cosmetic imperfections from normal use. The Rolls sits on newer wide whitewall radial tires with Black-trimmed wheel covers. The interior of the Rolls is in beautiful condition and is has many original features. The newer Burgundy Connolly leather interior is in excellent condition, with very minor normal creasing from normal use. The burl walnut dash is original and in good condition, as are the front and rear picnic tables. The wood veneers are in very good condition, but there is normal minor lacquer cracking on its surface. The newer Burgundy Wilton wool carpet is in excellent condition. The Rolls has rear "boot" air conditioning, a radio, and a clock; all of the instruments and gauges function well except the clock. The interior is beautiful and in overall beautiful condition. The engine and engine compartment and chassis are beautifully detailed. The venerable 6.2-liter V8 has wonderful power and is very quiet and smooth. The four-speed automatic transmission shifts well through the gears and delivers the power effortlessly. The Rolls starts easily warm or cold and is comfortable to drive. This Silver Cloud II needs nothing to be enjoyed!
