This beautiful Ivory 356 Speedster Replica has just 4550 miles ( 7010 km), is in near flawless condition and runs and drives fantastic! That’s correct, I did say Replica, but not just any replica….this speedster was hand built by Vintage Speedsters out of California, one of the original builders of Porsche Speedster Replicas. In fact they had built about 90% of all the Porsche Speedster replicas on the market and their quality and customer service was top notch. They sold the company in 2018 and the new owners went bankrupt a short time after. They used a custom built, jig welded 2×4″ 11 gauge steel frame. This rigid new structure retains the original VW floor pan designed by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche and integrates the largest frame possible. In addition the steering wheel is offset slightly just as it was in the original Speedster. While original Speedsters are a rare breed, Vintage Speedster Replicas are rare in their own right with roughly only 3000 built. This will be a great addition to any car guy or gals collection, or perfect for anyone looking for a truly unique sports car investment that can be driven anywhere as well be taken to the car shows and cruise-ins. Most people have no idea that this is not an original worth well over $300k and it will be up to you if you want to reveal the secret when you get stopped everywhere you go. I had originally purchased this 356 Speedster from a gentleman 2021 who owned it for 5 years. I believe he had purchased it from the original owner in 2015 and I believe that it was originally built in 2014. I sold it to a great guy in York, PA in 2021 and he owned it for the past 5 years putting only about 200 miles on it. He recently turned 80 years old and his wife convinced him that it was time to let go of his toy so he reached out to me to see if I could find this great little Speedster a new home and of course I said yes. As you will see in the pics this car looks fantastic and truly looks as good as when I sold it to him 5 years ago Body panel fit is excellent. I did not see any chips in the paint and the body is close to flawless. All of the chrome and stainless trim still looks awesome. Body color wheels give this a really period correct European look. Tan convertible top looks great and this Speedster also has the full tonneau cover that goes across the interior and unzips down the middle. Overall, this speedster looks extremely nice as you will see in the photo tour of the body.
Complimenting the classic Ivory exterior is a really nice light tan interior. Seats are in great condition. Matching tan carpet looks great and a set of two tone tan coco mats finish it out nicely. For those of you in the colder climate zones you will see this one has the traditional heat vents and defrost.There is also a very nice blue tooth retrosound stereo mounted under dash with speakers hidden under the dash. It also has a matching Ivory colored banjo steering wheel. The only flaw I noticed was a very small blemish on the top of the drivers side arm rail. The Speedometer is in Kilometers. The interior is in excellent condition overall and all of the gauges, lights, turn signals function correctly.
This Vintage Speedster is powered by a 2110 cc air cooled engine built by SCAT and is very strong and cruises along at highway speeds with no problem. It has the Dual Weber carburetors that are set up just right and this Speedster performs beautifully. This particular car also has the upgraded 3.88 Freeway flyer transmission allowing you to cruise along at 70+ mph on the highway. The car has a nice tone from the center exit A-1 performance exhaust and you can hear it running in the video that follows. Body colored wheels with the Porsche emblem hub caps with Pirelli P4 tires. Braking is a breeze with the upgraded front disc brake option this one has. Maintenance is cheap and easy on this car and any foreign car mechanics should be able to do a valve adjustment and tune up every couple thousand miles to keep it running great. Battery was replaced a year ago. There is a 3rd brake light mounted in the top of the engine grille area for added safety. Driving lights really help for night time driving. The undercarriage looks great and engine bay is also nice and clean as you would expect. Trunk area is fully carpeted.Turn the key and enjoy… It will be a ride to remember but make sure you leave a little extra time for all the questions and thumbs up you will get along the way. This car is Titled as a 1973 Volkswagen which makes it easy to register and title in most states. There is nothing this car needs but you in the drivers seat! This one is titled as a 1973 Volkswagen.
