1967 Ford Mustang S-Code 390 Hardtop 4-Speed — Marti Documented, EFI, Vintage Air, $64,900
Deluxe Marti Report confirms it left the line as a genuine S-code 390-4V big-block car with the Toploader four-speed — one of just 2,932 1967 hardtops built that way out of 356,326 hardtops produced. It was also factory equipped with power disc brakes, power steering, the Convenience Control Panel, tinted glass, rocker panel moldings, deluxe seat belts and an AM radio.
Originally Lime Gold (paint code I), the car has been beautifully repainted Wimbledon White, itself a factory 1967 Ford color. Note that the Marti Report does not list the GT Equipment Group, so the GT appearance items it wears today were added by a previous owner. The 390 is entirely genuine and factory documented; the GT trim is not.
A comprehensive refresh was performed over the last several years, carried out by Lone Wolfs Garage and professionally tuned by Gold Standard Machine & Restorations. The 390 was rebuilt at approximately 75,000 miles by the previous owner with a slightly larger cam shaft and the car now shows ~93,000. Fuel delivery is an ACES Killshot II EFI system, professionally installed and tuned — it cold-starts without drama and holds air/fuel through the range. Supporting it: an Edelbrock 8505 high-volume water pump, a four-row copper re-cored radiator, a 428 Super Cobra Jet seven-blade fan on a full-lockup super-duty clutch, and a 150-amp Power Master alternator to carry the EFI and air conditioning without straining the charging system. Anyone who has run a big-block first-gen in traffic knows why that matters. The rear end has new gears, bearings and seals, currently a 2.94 ratio, ideal for occasional highway cruises.
Front and rear suspensions are both completely refreshed. Featuring a Shelby drop, new five-leaf rear springs, new traction and sway bars, new control arms, spring perches, shocks, bushings, and hardware complete with zerk 45degree fittings. The new suspension was professionally laser aligned. It's a tight driver that tracks straight with no wander and turns in without the vagueness these cars are known for. Stopping is handled by power four-wheel disc brakes, the fronts factory and the rears converted.
Inside is the factory black vinyl standard bench-seat configuration (trim code 4A), an uncommon specification in a four-speed big-block car and one that suits how straightforward this car is. Comfort and instrumentation are modern without disturbing the look: a Vintage Air Mark IV under-dash air conditioning system that blows genuinely cold, a vastly improved nighttime driving experience thanks to LED backlit gauges from NuVintage and LED headlights. Included are an all-new heater core, interior heater box and ventilation hoses, an upgraded fuse panel with additional relayed circuits for future accessories, and a new fuel tank.
The car is rust-free — a California car since new, from a documented San Jose build and a Humboldt County selling dealer, and garage kept throughout. The Wimbledon White paint was done to a high standard and has since been polished and ceramic coated.
The Deluxe Marti Report comes with the car, along with the invoices I have on hand for the recent work.
