With cars built to fit nearly any need, their lineup included a variety of coupes, sedans, sports cars, wagons and trucks. For buyers looking at wagons, their eye was likely first drawn to the luxurious Nomad that was part of the Bel-Air trim level, but over twice as many buyers opted for the less well equipped and far more affordable Handyman Wagon. This 1957 Chevrolet Handyman wagon has been thoroughly hot-rodded in a pro-touring style. Now finished in a stunning combination of dark metallic blue with a bright silver roof and rear cove. At the front and rear are highly polished chrome bumpers, and the hood features the legendary 1957 Bel Air "hood rockets." With a lowered suspension, the car sits with a great stance on a set of polished 18-inch American Racing wheels. Move inside the car and custom grey cloth bench seats are fitted front and rear, and matching cloth covers the door panels. An adjustable steering column has been installed and is topped by a 3-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel. In front of the driver, a set of Autometer Pro-Comp gauges give a nice racy look, and provide accurate readouts. An alpine head unit has also been wired up with a custom sound system that features a pair of subwoofers in a custom trunk enclosure. Under the hood sits a 350ci TPI V8 that has been upgraded with ZZ4 aluminum heads, high-lift Crower camshaft and fuel injection running Big Stuff 3 fuel management system with data logging and custom tuning. An MSD ignition system has also been fitted for additional reliability and strong spark. Power is then run through a custom built heavy duty 700R4 automatic transmission with a 2,200 RPM stall torque converter that works nicely with the cam setup in the motor. Power disc brakes have also been fitted to the car for added stopping confidence. The Handyman Wagon may have been a lower trim level when compared to the Nomad, but with all of these upgrades, it has become something truly special.
