Offered in hardtop coupe, SportsRoof (also known as fastback) and Convertible body styles, this Mustang marked the end of the first "generation" before the introduction of the infamous Mustang II. This 1971 Ford Mustang Convertible is a fantastic example finished in Candy Apple Red with a White vinyl soft top. The consignor is a local Mustang Club of America judge, who purchased the car in 1994 from the former Mustang Club of America National President, Bill Johnson, who undertook a comprehensive restoration in the late-1980s and early-1990s. Upon its completion, this Mustang took home numerous MCA awards, and restoration receipts are included. The car sits on a set of 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels, and features a NASA hood, racing style mirrors and chrome front and rear bumpers with overriders. The interior features a pair of high back bucket seats up front, with two more seats behind them, all upholstered in a combination of black leather with grey patterned fabric centers. Laid out in front of the driver is a full set of instrumentation, including a tachometer and clock, and a 3-spoke rim-blow steering wheel. Sitting under the hood is an F-Code 302ci V8 with a 2bbl carburetor. In 1971, Ford rated this powerplant at 210 horsepower and 296 lb-ft of torque, which then runs through a 3-speed automatic transmission. During the previous owner's restoration, the engine bay was finished with correct markings and finishings throughout, which are all still present and the undercarriage presents very well. Even with a restoration that is more than 30 years old, this car presents quite nicely and makes for quite a nice driver, that could be brought back to show-winning condition with a bit of work.
