2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 Hardtop

For consignment, a 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 Hardtop with a title verified 3,113 actual miles. About 3,000 170's were allocated to the U.S. and another 300 for Canada. This is a track proven example, getting into the 9's consistently in stock configuration. Prior to that, meticulous care was given to adhere to Dodge's break in process.

Exterior
Of those 3,000 American Demons produced, just 245 of them were painted the aptly named White Knuckle, keeping alive Dodge's inclinations on clever color names. One of the features that separates this car from sub 800hp models is the long horizontal hood scoop, dressed in matte black with that color optionally appearing on the roof and decklid where it meets a spoiler. Up front you'll find one of the more pioneering features to come along in the muscle car world in a while; the use of inside light lenses as air intakes while still maintaining the ability to illuminate. Keeping that power to the ground, at least on the back half, are 17-inch wheels with 315/50R17 Mickey Thompson with a late 2025 date code. The front might get some air time and are fitted with 18-inch wheels and 55 series tires with a late 2022 date code. Imperfections include some scuffs and light chin spoiler scrapes.

Interior
Demonic Red leather inserts brighten up the black doors and that vibrancy continues on the bucket seats and yes, rear bench! The fronts are particularly supportive and stamped with the devilish 170 logo. Up front is the meaty steering wheel with thumb buttons than your texting teenager, fronting a red faced gauge cluster. But the real action is in the programmable center screen where you can do everything from listen to the full service AM/FM/CD radio, change every aspect of the drive mode, see what's behind you, and fine tune your drag performance with a plethora of options. Plus, it will report your stats back to you with pinpoint accuracy and save it for Cars and Coffee bragging rights. Oh, you can also navigate. The center console is carbon fiber trimmed and houses the shifter, while black carpet is low pile and likely not adding much weight. The trunk is finished with gray panels and holds the Harman/Kardon subwoofer box.

Drivetrain
The king of the hill emerges as a 6.2 liter supercharged Hemi V8 factory rated at 1,025 horsepower on E85 and 900 on E10 fuel. After a 145 mph track run, the car reported 1,106 horsepower to our consignor. It's mated to an 8HP90 TorqueFlite 8-speed transmission with a TransBrake and routes power to the rear axle with 3.09 gears and mechanical limited slip.

Undercarriage
Kudos to the track crew and thanks to low mileage, the underside remains clean and only shows signs of light usage. Dual exhaust runs through all original equipment including resonators and the four wheel power disc brakes include Brembo 6-piston units in front. The fully independent suspension includes the tuned 170 Drag suspension, Macpherson struts in front and coil springs in back.

Drive-Ability
Rather than risk 32nds in the tread, we feather Goliath's chariot around the test loop finding a pleasurable ride at pedestrian speeds, one that would make a store run or family trip fairly typical and uneventful. But with some computer programming on the center screen and a solid right foot, the sleeping giant has the capability of tearing up tarmac and planting people into the red leather. We find the essential functions work on this low mileage legend and it's off to find a showroom spot. In 2018, the 808 horsepower Dodge Demon was introduced and set the automotive world ablaze. But clearly, Dodge had more up its sleeve which it revealed in the even more powerful Demon 170 in 2023.
