This 1965 Backdraft Racing Shelby Cobra Replica was privately owned
by a good customer of ours. It is finished in a bespoke Dark
Porsche Blue with Twin Silver Stripes over a Black Leather
interior. It has the look and sound of an original 427 Cobra, with
modern engineering underneath that makes it a car you can actually
drive and enjoy.
Backdraft Racing is known for building some of the best-engineered
Cobra replicas on the market. This one is built on a steel
square-tube frame with a fiberglass body, BMW suspension arms,
adjustable coilover shocks, and BMW four-wheel disc brakes. The
Backdraft layout includes a recessed rear wall, a wider driver's
seat, and a dropped box on the driver's floor, so the cockpit fits
a wider range of drivers than a traditional Cobra.
Power comes from a Prestige Motorsports 427 V8 iron block rated at
500 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. It is built with a Lunati
forged crank, Mahle forged pistons, aluminum heads, and a roller
camshaft. Supporting parts include an Edelbrock intake manifold,
water pump, and fuel pump, a Holley 770 cfm carburetor, MSD
distributor and Blaster SS coil, a Melling oil pump, and a Power
Master starter. It is paired with a Tremec TKX 5-speed manual
transmission.
Classic Style Trim includes black leather seats and dash, black
carpet, a classic-style gauge package, 18 knockoff wheels, a
driver-side roll bar, Backdraft floor mats, and a carpeted
trunk.
