This is one rare bird - one of only 1,109 produced with a 400ci V-8, one of only 237 400's with a manual 4-speed, and one of only a few that were outfitted with the rare Wimbledon Plaid seats! Making it even cooler is the fact that it retains all of it's original sheet metal, it still wears about 80% original paint, it still has it's original engine and transmission, it comes with two original Broadcast Sheets, and it has only 45,904 actual miles! This Road Runner comes to us today dressed in mostly original Black paint (X9) with white stripes. The paint is in good driver-quality condition with small chips and touch-ups that you'd expect after over 50 years, but it still has a very nice shine. The white decals on the car provide a great contrast to the black paint, but they do exhibit thin cracking here and there from age. Up front you'll find a power-bulge hood with faux vents and "400" decals that let you know what's hiding below. The hood is equipped with factory hood pins and atop the fenders are working turn signal indicators for the driver. At the nose is a black eggcrate grille flanked by dual side-by-side round headlights in bright bezels and below is a chrome bumper with black guards. The side view of the car really shows off the muscular fuselage body style of the second generation Road Runners. The black body is accented by quite a bit of chrome and brightwork - including dual chrome side mirrors, wheel lip molding, door handles, windshield surround, and window trim. White stripes flow down the fenders and doors before swooping up the rear pillar and strobing across the roof. Colorful running cartoon bird decals on the rear pillars add to the look. Making a huge impact on the side-view are a set of 15" chrome 5-spoke Crager SS wheels all wrapped in Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T tires - a perfect choice for this ride! Around back, you'll find a chrome bumper with integrated taillights and black guards and a set of cool factory "machine gun" slotted exhaust tips.

Slip the pins and lift the hood to find a clean stock engine bay with a numbers-matching 400ci V-8 at the center. The blue block is topped off with chrome valve covers, a stock intake, a Carter Thermoquad 4-barrel carburetor, and an orange dual-snorkel air cleaner with "400 4-Barrel" decal. This big V-8 is mated up to a numbers-matching Chrysler 4-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels through an 8 �" rear axle. Other highlights under the hood include power steering and power brakes (front discs, rear drums). Exhaust flows through cast manifolds and Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers before exiting the tips at the rear with a healthy rumble. With standard equipment such as power disc brakes up front, front and rear sway-bars, heavy-duty leaf springs and torsion bars, and isolated front and rear suspension, this car is much more pleasurable to drive than its older B-body cousins.

Swing open the drivers door to reveal an interior that will make any Mopar fan grin ear to ear! This Road Runner is outfitted with an original white vinyl interior that includes rare red Wimbledon Plaid seats and the legendary pistol-grip shifter. The white door panels sport faux wood trim, armrests, and a drivers mirror toggle. The seats are still in amazing condition and they really stand out as a focal point. A black center console with woodgrain trim and a storage box splits the front buckets and it's home to the aforementioned Hurst shifter. Overhead is a tight white vinyl headliner and underfoot is original black loop carpet. Ahead of the driver is black 3-spoke steering wheel with a working horn on a fixed column. The wheel fronts a crack-free black dash with a woodgrain gauge bezel and trim. The dash houses controls for the lights, 2-speed wipers, and heater & fan as well as a speedometer, tachometer, and working gauges. The odometer reads 45,904 and the title confirms those to be actual miles. Also within the bezel is the original AM/FM radio that plays your cruisin' soundtrack through a dash speaker. There are two speakers on the rear package tray, but they are inoperative. In the center of the dash is a working "Reverse" light and ahead of the passenger is a glovebox with working courtesy light. Around back in the trunk you'll find a vinyl mat, a Goodyear Polyglas spare tire, a factory jack, a California duster, and a set of black carpeted Road Runner floormats. Included in the sale are an original owners manual portfolio, some dealer brochures, a handful of receipts, and two original Broadcast sheets.
