Matching numbers. I believe I am the third owner; I'm 70 yrs. old now and I just don't drive it. It's been well maintained and nearly all original. I recently repainted it and all pin stripping is painted on; not decals. I painted the rear spoiler the darker silver color to give it a little more contrast. If you want it to match the way it came out of the factory, all you have to do is repaint the rear spoiler the lighter silver (spoiler only w/ no pin stripe). The car had 58,000 miles on it when I purchased it back in 2019 so I have had it, almost 8 years. I also kept the original parts like catalytic converter; when I replaced the original with a California approved Cat. I have the distributor cover (dress piece) and a few extra parts (brake pads, brake calipers, and some other stuff). Metal brake lines, EVAP system lines and fuel lines have all been replaced- running along the frame front to rear. Drive shafts have all new universal joints and I replaced the rear wheel bearings and they are shimmed to .003", not a lot of extra slop, w/ a bearing pack. It’s a beautiful solid car. Nearly everything works as it should.
List of problems:
- Needs a backup light switch for the backup lights
- The AC gets cold but it could be colder with a can of R-12 added to it.
- R side headlamp (low beam is burned out).
I can think of nothing else wrong with it. I have made a few minor changes- the spoiler paint I mentioned, upgraded seat covers and mats, and the car AM/FM/ Tape player which was not original when I purchased it. That is about everything. I put a nice Kenwood disc player in it.
I have paid attention and put the original Chevrolet bolts and screws while restoring it, tried to keep everything original as possible She looks and runs darn good. I myself have done a lot of work to her. I am a retired mechanic with over 45 years experience. Ive worked in custom shops, on aircraft, cars, trucks, boats- about everything but trains.
