My car is indeed a very rare find-for someone who is looking for this type of collectible specialty vehicle.
I searched for 8 years for this “dream” car, with the help of my “gearhead” friends, who worked on “muscle cars”, built motors, & raced “hot rods”. We still go to all the car shows, and this particular car is the best of breed-the best version of this car, we have ever seen to date. First of all, the vast majority of Shelby Cobras for sale have ALL BEEN WRECKED, but NOT THIS ONE. This one had 2 older professional owners who never raced or wrecked the car. No questionable modifications either. It was pampered, and garage-kept, and upgraded with only the best top-of-the-line racing components. It literally was driven to the beach on weekends, to Starbucks, where it never failed to draw a crowd. It has the preferred Ford Racing V-8 stroker motor & the most sought-after color. At car shows, it looks & sounds better than all the others. Unfortunately, it is now for sale due to my personal health reasons. After a bad fall, I needed neck surgery & now have metal plates & screws in my neck, as well as a weak left arm due to nerve damage. So my loss is now gonna be some lucky person’s gain. The lucky new owner will also get something that is a rare bonus-a clean California title. For many years now, the state of California is no longer registering cars of this type, but mine is already registered as a “1966 Shelby” & is thereby legally “grandfathered in”. So this car NEVER NEEDS TO BE SMOGGED. The car has been PNO (planned non-operation) and very carefully stored since 2007. Updating the registration is the responsibility of the new owner.
This car is deliberately set-up like a vintage 1960’s car. It provides a true 60’s driving experience for a car collector. It was never intended to be an “everyday driver”. It does NOT have modern computerized convenience or safety features of a late-model vehicle. There is NO fuel injection, NO computerized regulation of the engine, NO traction control, NO ABS, NO power steering, NO power brakes, NO crumple zones, NO bumpers, NO proximity warning, NO cameras. So it does not, nor was it intended to, compare with modern convenience & safety standards. It has a low ground clearance, suitable for a track car on a smooth race track, but does not do well on poor quality common roads, dips or speed bumps. This car requires special expertise to tow, requiring a flat bed with special planks & boards, placed just right. The pedals are very closely spaced for heel & toe shifting -racing techniques. This car is super high performance & very light weight, with an unusual front/rear weight distribution. Even for experienced drivers, there is a definite learning curve to safely driving a car of this type, and a “muscle car” driving course is strongly recommended. The seller is not, in any way, to be held responsible for new owners’ inexperience with this type of car, and should NOT be held responsible for any damages-if this non-crashworthy car is used as an everyday driver, or in a way other than it was originally intended.
