I searched for eight years for my “dream” Cobra with the help of longtime gearhead friends who build engines, work on muscle cars, and race hot rods. After years of attending car shows and looking at Cobras, this was the best example we had seen, and it remains one of the finest Cobra replicas I have encountered. It had been owned by two mature enthusiasts, had never been raced or wrecked, and had been pampered and garage-kept rather than subjected to questionable modifications. I especially wanted the classic blue-and-white color combination and a Ford-powered drivetrain. Unfortunately, after a fall, neck surgery and resulting weakness in my left arm, I can no longer comfortably enjoy the car, so it is time for another enthusiast owner.
Professionally built by Shell Valley Motors, this exceptionally well-preserved 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 replica combines outstanding performance, documented ownership history, exceptionally low mileage, and a Ford drivetrain that includes the much preferred Ford Racing small block V-8, known to not only provide ample power, but also improved weight distribution for superior handling. After doing my research, talking to the experts, and going on numerous test drives, the consensus is that it is simply the best motor for this car.
This Cobra has been adult-owned, carefully maintained, and has never been raced or wrecked. The only notable modification was an adjustment to the driver's seat to accommodate a taller driver.
Showing just 1,370 original miles, this Cobra has spent much of its life carefully stored. Please note that the mileage stated in the video is incorrect. The photograph of the odometer shows the correct mileage of 1370.
