Where is the dazzling beauty I've been searching for all my life
(American Graffiti, 1973)? That beauty is right in front of you!
This 1957 Chevrolet 3100 Panel Truck is a fully FRAME-OFF Restored
ALL STEEL (ZERO-BONDO) Street Truck Cruiser! A build that started
as a forgotten work truck, stranded in the middle of Apple Valley,
California. Until a man came along, dug it out of the dirt and
brought to is NASCAR Workshop in Modesto, California. This Build
take 6-Years to complete ... and the finished product is a
"DAZZLING BEAUTY"!!
??The owner/builder of this Panel Truck has a history of building
extreme air-cooled dune-buggies. This was is first out-of the norm
(to him) build. All of the Exterior rust was cut and replaced with
steel. Zero bondo. The Front Fenders, Dual Fin Hood & Passenger
were replaced and after sanding years of repaints & chipping rust,
the original color was discovered. Surf Green, a soft pastel mint
green inspired by the foamy color of the ocean waves. Show-Quality
chrome bumpers, grille and trim was added along with a Sun visor.
The Wheels are a custom ordered American Racing Torq Thrusts with
BRAND NEW 2026 Radial All Season Tires.
??To make this Panel Truck stand out a little more, if taken to a
cruise-In or Car Show, the Hood actually tilts forward to help
fully expose the 365-Horsepower 5.7L 350ci ZZ4 Chevrolet Crate
Motor. At the time, the owner work on a NASCAR Stock Car Racing
Team, and with the help of his Workshop, this Motor and Suspension
was built to the fullest. A more aggressive feel to the engine
dress-up with Matte Black Intake Manifold, Valve Covers & Cermaic
Coated Block Hugger Headers. Of Course Fitted with Powered Steering
& 4-Wheel Disc Brakes. This V8 is mated to a Rebuilt TH350
Automatic with a TCI Street Fighter Kit.
??As for the Suspension, the Frame has been Boxed-Steel with a
Fat-Man's Mustang II IFS & Helix Suspension. C-Notched Rear with an
extra set of Leaf Springs for a smooth ride and lowered stance
look. The Rear End is a Ford 8.8in from a Ford Explorer. ?? The
interior was built for comfort, by Castillo Upholstery (Modesto,
CA). Custom Leather Door Panels, Seating, Headliner & New
Carpeting. Everything in the interior is NEW ... Except for the
Original Wood Rear Paneling. A Polished Ididit Tilt Steering, Auto
Meter Gauges & Vintage Air A/C for Easy Cruising. ??
This build took 6-Years to complete from Rusting away in Apple
Valley, CA to being completed in 2015 in Hernando, FL. With just 3K
miles on the build this is a Rare Panel Truck, built with
High-Quality parts. However, there is a few flaws in the build. The
paint has some discoloration not the driver's side paneling and
rear of the hood. This was painted in a home-built paint booth
where the temperature conditions & air were not controlled, but
this truck stands out!
