INTRODUCTION: Somebody doesn't know it yet, but they're going to
get an incredible car! This isn't a made over, thrown together
Chevelle. It's a purpose built hot rod loaded with high end
components and executed extremely well. The result is an incredible
looking car with the stance and presence you want, backed up by 800
horsepower and the performance to make it every bit as exciting to
drive as it is to look at!
EXTERIOR: This one is absolutely stunning! The wheels are killer,
the stance is right on, and the color is electric. Being a real SS,
it has the signature bulged hood and the body panels are laser beam
straight with excellent gaps, and there is no rust or damage
showing. It's finished in a modern interpretation of Marina Blue- a
little more vibrant and a touch darker than the original color. The
metallic is laid out evenly, and the finish has been polished
smooth and glossy like glass. There is no vinyl top, which really
shows off the clean lines of the body. It is a very high quality
paint job although it has picked up some imperfections, but overall
it presents beautifully. It appears that all of the exterior trim
was replaced at the time of restoration, including the chrome,
moldings, emblems and bow-tie mirrors. Both the front windshield
and rear window were replaced. It also has upgraded Holley
headlights and subtle, thin hand painted pinstripes that add just
the right finishing touch. The stance absolutely makes this car.
It's rolling on killer Avant Garde wheels- 20 inches in back and
19s up front and all are wrapped in Continental Extreme Contact
performance tires.
INTERIOR: The interior is awesome too! I love how it retains the
original Chevelle character while being tastefully modernized with
premium upgrades. It's a very fresh interior throughout, including
an upgraded wiring harness. The dash maintains its factory style
appearance but is filled with modern RetroTech gauges. The dash pad
was replaced, as was the trim across the dash, and a RetroSound
stereo fits right in without disrupting the classic look. The
reproduction center console houses a billet shifter for the Tremec
5-speed. There's a tilt steering column topped with a premium
leather wrapped Sparc steering wheel. Down low are upgraded billet
pedals, brand new carpet that fits like a glove with sound deadener
underneath. The sound system is upgraded with kick-panel speakers
up front and 6x9s in back. The seats have been re-cushioned and
reupholstered. The door panels, armrests and window cranks are new
as well. There are seat belts for everyone, and looking up, the
headliner, visors and mirror are new along with an LED dome light.
From the upholstery and carpet to the dash, door panels and trim,
nearly everything you look at or touch feels fresh.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This is a really, really well done engine
compartment- 800 horsepower surrounded by premium parts and
exceptional attention to detail! At the heart of it is an all
aluminum 800 HP, 6.2L LS topped with a Whipple supercharger and
controlled by a Holley Terminator X EFI system. A black Wegner
Performance front drive system with serpentine pulleys, mini a/c
compressor and a modern alternator completes the package, while
Chevrolet script valve covers give it a clean, finished appearance.
Premium black fittings and black braided hoses are used throughout,
along with a catch can system and intercooler. A custom satin black
cold air intake looks right at home, the firewall and inner fenders
are smoothed for a clean, uncluttered appearance. Cooling is
handled by a blacked out aluminum radiator with big dual electric
fans, premium radiator hose clamps. The overflow bottle and power
steering reservoirs are a matched set. It also features power
brakes and a hydraulic master cylinder for the clutch. Billet hood
hinges are another premium touch. Nothing looks like an
afterthought or a collection of mismatched parts. From the plumbing
and fittings to the finishes and component selection, this engine
compartment has the look of a high-end professional build!
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted
every bit as slick as the exterior. Inside, the metal is rock solid
and has been lined with sound deadener, then finished with a fitted
blue carpet mat. It's also complete with a jack and spare tire
assembly. The battery has been relocated to the trunk for a cleaner
engine compartment and is upgraded to an Optima battery secured in
a billet hold down.
UNDERCARRIAGE: This is where you really see why this Chevelle
performs so incredibly well. The chassis is loaded with high
quality upgrades, starting with a complete Ridetech suspension. Up
front it features tubular control arms, adjustable coilover gas
shocks and a beefy sway bar, while the steering components have
been rebuilt. In back is a Ridetech 4-link setup with heavy duty
control arms, adjustable coilover gas shocks and another beefy sway
bar. The brake system received a major upgrade as well, with a
Wilwood big disc brake setup featuring drilled and slotted rotors
at all four wheels and red calipers. Even the emergency brake is
properly hooked up and functional. The exhaust is just as
impressive- a great sounding, all stainless system with TIG welded
construction, an X-pipe and Borla mufflers. The fuel system was
upgraded to properly support the fuel injection and includes a
custom stainless fuel tank. Looking up at the drivetrain, the
engine has an aluminum Holley oil pan and a high torque starter.
It's backed by a Tremec TKX 5-speed manual transmission with a
hydraulic clutch and custom transmission support brace. A rebuilt
driveshaft sends the power back to the 12-bolt rear end with 3.73
posi gears. Even the foundation is impressive. The floors appear to
be very clean, dry, solid metal.
