INTRODUCTION: This is a very impressive car! It received a body off
frame restoration and has the complete package: an incredible
stance and killer looks, adjustable air ride suspension, a
beautifully executed custom interior, a crate motor and air
conditioning. It has the style to stand out at any show or cruise
night!
EXTERIOR: This exceptionally clean and straight '65 body is
finished in a rich pewter metallic that has been polished to a
beautiful gloss. It's a quality paint job too- the metallic is laid
out evenly and the finish presents beautifully. With no vinyl top,
it has an especially clean, sleek appearance. The chrome and trim
are exceptional; the chrome was replaced and the stainless trim was
polished. Even more impressive, all of the glass has been replaced,
along with the weatherstrips. It also features dual Bowtie mirrors,
dual rear antennas and Holley high intensity high beam headlights.
Out back are the very desirable round 1965 taillights, one of the
signature features that makes this year Impala so sought after. The
adjustable air ride suspension gives it just the right stance over
20-inch chrome Ridler wheels wrapped in performance tires. The
colors, stance, wheels and exceptional brightwork all come together
beautifully on this car.
INTERIOR: It is completely custom and absolutely stunning in red.
The seats and door panels are upholstered in premium material with
a diamond pattern and contrasting red stitching. The seat cushions
are nice and firm, giving them that fresh, supportive feel. Billet
handles add just the right amount of custom detail, and the doors
are equipped with power windows. Above, the Alcantara headliner and
visors are beautifully fitted and features a red LED dome light,
while the dash has been custom upholstered to match. A full set of
custom gauges includes a tachometer, and the retro style stereo is
Bluetooth compatible, playing through kick panel speakers up front
and 6x9 speakers in the rear. Vintage Air climate control uses
modern electric slide controls, and an electronic controller
operates the adjustable air-ride suspension. A polished tilt
steering column is topped with a custom steering wheel that
complements the Ridler wheels perfectly. It also has front and rear
seat belts. Beneath all the beautiful cosmetics, the car was done
right with sound deadener, replaced wiring and a modern blade-style
fuse panel.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: At the heart of it is a strong running crate
383 stroker producing approximately 400 horsepower. It's topped
with an aluminum intake, dual-feed Holley carburetor and billet HEI
distributor, while a set of headers lets it breathe. A matched set
of finned valve covers, plug wire holders and air cleaner give the
motor a coordinated, high end appearance. The blacked out Front
Runner serpentine accessory drive system keeps everything clean and
organized up front. Modern conveniences include a mini A/C
compressor and power steering with braided stainless hoses and a
remote reservoir. It also features a polished BAP one-wire
alternator, aluminum water pump, polished Champion aluminum
radiator with an electric fan and an overflow bottle. Because of
the hotter cam, a vacuum reservoir assists the power brakes for
consistent braking performance. The engine bay itself is just as
impressive as the hardware. It's painted and highly detailed with a
custom smooth firewall, billet hood hinges and a polished master
cylinder. A Newport Engineering wiper motor and battery disconnect
are additional quality upgrades. The wiring and plumbing are neatly
routed, giving the entire compartment a clean, finished
appearance.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and throughout the jamb are
nicely painted in the same beautiful pewter metallic as the body.
Inside is a clean, well designed custom enclosure that gives the
trunk a finished appearance while concealing the air-ride
equipment. The floor is carpeted for a finished look.
UNDERSIDE: The body was removed from the frame during the
restoration, and underneath shows the extent of the work. The frame
was completely prepped, smoothed and finished in gray. It features
an all new air ride system front and rear, while the steering and
suspension were rebuilt. Upgraded rear control arms were installed
along with replaced shocks and bushings. The brake system was
seriously upgraded with drilled and slotted disc brakes at all four
wheels, along with replaced lines and hoses. The fuel system was
also replaced, including a shiny new tank, and is fully compatible
with the fuel-injected engine. A beautifully installed polished
stainless steel exhaust system runs front to back with Flowmaster
mufflers. Looking up at the motor, everything is clean and it
features a high-torque starter. The upgraded 700R4 overdrive
automatic transmission has a remote finned aluminum oil cooler. A
rebuilt driveshaft connects to the 12-bolt rear end with 3.73 posi
gears , which is dressed with a chrome cover. The floors are all
rock solid and neatly protected with a chip guard finish. Overall,
the underside is clean, extensively restored and loaded with
upgrades.

CONCLUSION: I'm always looking for a '65 Impala, and frankly, I
don't see that many- certainly like this one! The colors, wheels
and air ride give it that awesome stance an Impala needs. This
one's got it going on! If you miss it, I don't know when I'll have
another.
