This beautiful 1963 Chevrolet is a genuine black / black Impala SS; no color changes or fake badging here. It has seen a lot of work in the last five years to become the great looking and driving vehicle you see today.
Built in Los Angeles, this Impala has remained free of rust problems thanks to a lifetime on the west coast. Now if you’re going to have a big, black car then it better be straight and that’s exactly what we have here. Be sure to see all the pictures! Refinished in its original Tuxedo Black, this one really wears it well. The factory SS trim and three-piece bumpers are the perfect accents and make this one of the best looking Impalas of all time. The chrome Cragar 17” wheels give it a little extra sparkle as well.
The 327ci engine was rebuilt by Portland Engine Rebuilders. It has the correct 3782870 casting and double hump heads. Upgrades include a painted Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and 4-barrel carburetor with electric choke along with a variety of chrome accessories. There is also an aluminum radiator and a set of Hedman Hedders feeding dual Flowmaster mufflers. The automatic transmission has been changed from the original 2-speed Powerglide to a 3-speed TH350. Power steering is also present - definitely important on these large B-body cars. It also benefits from power front disc brakes and aftermarket front / rear stabilizer bars.
Looking at the trim tag shows interior code 812 which indicates an SS with black vinyl bucket seats. That is is exactly what we have here though it has been been restored. Everything is in great condition including the seat covers, moldings, door panels, headliner, and carpet along with all the swirl pattern SS trim. The center console contains a storage compartment and the floor shifter. Everything works properly including the lights, gauges, turn signals, heater / defroster, wipers / washers, radio, and parking brake. Note this 1963 model is not equipped with seat belts but we can add them if interested.
As mentioned, this is a real-deal Impala SS in its original colors. That is validated by the factory trim tag which also includes the 3Z accessory code (SS for 1963). Also of note is the build date of late July 1963, making this one of the last Impalas built for that model year. All icing on the cake for this shiny black Impala SS that is ready to go for its next owner.
