Vehicle Description

1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396

This gorgeous 1969 Chevelle SS 396 was purchased about 2 years ago by the current owner from Blue Line Classics in Ohio.

They stated that the car was originally a North Carolina car and was restored/modded in 2020.

Blue Line claimed it has it's original sheet metal but much refurbishment took place on the entire car.

The car was stripped and repainted in it's original Frost Green. The bumpers were re-chromed, new vinyl top installed and American Racing Torque Thrust wheels were wrapped in Cooper Cobra radials. (215/70/R15-F, 275/65/R15-R). The paint and overall condition of the exterior is what most people would call mint. I found one imperfection, a couple of very small drips in the paint on the lower driver door edge.

The interior was in good shape so only minimal work took place there, but the gauge package was upgraded to the U14 cluster which includes speedo, tach, oil pressure gauge, temp gauge, clock, battery and fuel.

An aftermarket "retro radio" was installed which includes an aux cable hook up.

The seating surfaces were replaced as were the door cards, all in the original green vinyl.

There is a seam separation in the rear part of the headliner, not visible unless you're looking for it and a couple of minor chips on the glovebox door.

All the gauges work, all the electrical bits ... Horn, lights, blinkers, wipers, etc. all work.

Vintage Air was added and it blows nice and cold .. heat works too.

Under the hood a date coded Nov. 1969 HPE 396 was tucked into place.

This is a real deal SS but it is unknown what happened to the original 396. The car was built in April of 1969 in the Baltimore plant.

Odometer shows 68000 miles, only a couple of thousand miles have been added since the restoration, but true mileage is unknown.

Edelbrock manifold and carb were added, chrome valve covers, chrome air cleaner with the 350 HP call out and a later model HEI ignition.

Under the hood is clean enough to eat off, power brake booster, aluminum radiator, power steering, AC compressor, all in like new condition.

The 396 is linked to a beefed TH350 with shift kit and it runs out through a 3:73 geared 12 bolt posi rear diff. The exhaust flows through a custom bent 2.5 inch system with XLerator Turbo mufflers.

The power brakes all happen to be drilled/slotted discs, front and rear. Blue Line claimed that the suspension is the F-41 handling suspension, with Southside Performance boxed radius arms.

Sway bars front and rear really help this car feel almost sporty as opposed to all straight line brute.

Speaking of eating, the underside was completely sandblasted and repainted, you could eat off nearly any surface under this car.

Every aspect of this car is clean to extreme and in near perfect condition.

Pump the gas a couple of times, turn the key and the Chevy Bog Block rumbles to life and settles into a lopey idle.

Hit the gas and it accelerates very quickly. Stomp the gas and it lights up the tires and chirps 2nd and 3rd gears. The F-41 suspension gives this car a very solid feel, even around corners, but the ride is super comfy, easily absorbing bumps without annoying rattles that often plague classic cars.

This car is a stunning example in a very cool color.

Bench seat, column shift, tilt wheel and AC.

If you happen to be as stout as this car, those will make this car a pure pleasure to drive.

Totally turn key, will easily win at local car shows.

It can head to your home for $72,000
