Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is proud to present this
1979 Ford Bronco, finished in an Orange and White exterior over a
Brown leather interior. This Bronco pairs the recognizable styling
of Ford's full-size second-generation Bronco with an extensive
collection of drivetrain, braking, steering, cooling, and interior
upgrades.
The original 351M block was bored and built into a 447 CID stroker
V8. The build features a TMeyer stroker kit with a forged
crankshaft, forged rods, and forged flat-top pistons. Trick Flow
195 CNC-ported 72cc heads are joined by a Comp Cams High Energy
mild 252-degree camshaft, PRW Pro Series stainless steel roller
rockers, ARP Pro Series head studs, and an Edelbrock Performer
intake manifold.
Fuel delivery is handled by Holley Terminator X Max fuel injection,
while ignition comes from a Holley dual-sync distributor controlled
by the ECM through a Holley HyperSpark 2 CD ignition box.
Additional engine equipment includes a Melling high-volume oil
pump, March Performance-style accessory drive, Hedman Black Max
long-tube headers, and a Boyd Welding custom EFI fuel tank with an
in-tank Aeromotive 340 fuel pump and stainless fuel lines. A
stainless exhaust system with an X-pipe and Borla mufflers
completes the setup.
Backing the 447 CID stroker V8 is a TCI 4X four-speed overdrive
4L80E automatic transmission controlled by the Terminator X Max
ECM. An FTI Performance SRL Series billet lockup torque converter
with a 2K stall is also listed as part of the drivetrain. The
original transfer case has been modified to work with the 4L80E
using an Advanced Adapters output housing and input shaft, while a
JB Custom Fabrication remote-mounted twin-stick shifter provides
transfer-case control.
The braking system uses a Hydraboost and master-cylinder setup with
Wild Horses 4x4 components, Wilwood six-piston front calipers,
Wilwood four-piston rear calipers, custom rotors, and stainless
flex brake hoses. Power steering is assisted by a RedHead steering
gearbox, while an IDIDIT tilt steering column is topped by a custom
steering wheel. Yukon limited-slip carriers are listed at the front
and rear, along with front and rear sway bars.
Cooling comes from a Griffin aluminum radiator with two electric
fans and a MegaCool core. Vintage Air SureFit air conditioning adds
comfort inside the Brown leather cabin, where Dakota Digital gauges
receive engine information through a Dakota Digital interface
module connected to the Holley ECM. Dakota Digital cruise control,
LED lighting, an AM/FM radio, and upholstery completed by Xtreme
Upholstery are also included.
Settle into the Brown leather interior, adjust the tilt steering
wheel, and the view ahead is unmistakably classic Bronco. The 447
CID stroker V8, four-speed overdrive automatic, power steering,
power brakes, and air conditioning bring a substantial collection
of upgrades into the experience, whether heading across town or
settling in for a leisurely drive.
