I have always thought of it as one of the finest pieces of engineering wit from that era. No turbo that first has to think about things, no heavy artillery, just cleverness. And the beauty of it: that 1.6 litre keeps spinning into territory where many engines from that time would long since have retired. A crescendo you would normally need a season ticket to the Royal Albert Hall to hear.

The CRX was the playful two-door based on the Civic, but lower, shorter and infinitely more enthusiastic. The generation in front of you is the last proper one, the EE8 with that cheeky profile and the double rear window.
