1985 Ferrari 308 GTS quattrovalvole in Newport, RI

Vehicle Description

Chassis No. ZFFUA13AXF0057969

Introduced as the final evolution of the 308 in 1983, the Quattrovalvole (four-valve) improved Maranello's charismatic, high-revving V8 with better breathing and sharpened response, creating what continues to be one of the most rewarding and enjoyable models in Ferrari's mid-engine lineage.

Four valves per cylinder, revised Bosch K-Jetronic injection, and a higher compression ratio lifted the 3.0-liter quad-cam V8 to 230 horsepower in U.S. specification, restoring much of the output lost to emissions equipment on the preceding two-valve cars. Power reached the rear wheels through a gated five-speed transaxle mounted transversely behind the cabin, good for approximately 150 mph and a zero-to-60 mph sprint in the low six-second range. In GTS form, the removable targa panel added open-air motoring to a chassis already prized for its balance and communicative steering.

Chassis number 57969 is a U.S.-delivery example finished in Rosso Corsa over Beige, and its accompanying clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report documents a long-term California residency. Opening in 1991, emissions certifications and service entries are recorded in Modesto, Los Altos, Los Gatos, Sunnyvale, and Santa Cruz, tracing the 308 through the Golden State across 35 years. The mileage rises gradually across those entries, consistent with a well-kept car exercised rather than stored away.

With a recent service by Santa Cruz Motorsports in May 2026 at 27,383 miles, this low-mileage Quattrovalvole is ready to be driven and enjoyed as intended, with the targa top stowed and the quad-cam V8 climbing toward 7,000 rpm on a favorite stretch of road.
