GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1963 GMC 1500 Custom, a
unique classic truck that blends traditional GMC styling with
tasteful custom touches and a thorough restoration. Finished in
Blue with White accents and a Black-painted bed, this GMC has a
distinctive look that stands out from the crowd.
Power comes from a 305ci V6 paired with a 4-speed manual
transmission. The truck also features power steering, power brakes,
electronic ignition, dual exhaust, and factory air conditioning,
making it a particularly appealing combination of vintage character
and driving comfort. Fifteen-inch 8-lug wheels, Western side
mirrors, and tow mirrors complement the truck's classic pickup
appearance while adding functionality.
Inside, the GMC features a Teal and Gray bench seat surrounded by a
White and Gray interior. Black flooring provides a durable and
understated contrast, while an Air-Way compass adds an interesting
period-style accessory to the cabin. Additional unique equipment
includes a GMC spotlight, Bat-o-Meter, tachometer, and backup
lights, giving this truck plenty of period-correct personality.
Under the hood, the 305ci V6 features striking Red hydro-dipped
head covers along with factory plaid valve covers. The engine has
been rebuilt and is now approximately 9,000 miles into the
restoration. The rebuild included new main bearings, rod bearings,
and camshaft bearings, along with reconditioned connecting rods,
piston rings, and crankshaft work. The cylinder heads received a
valve grind and new seats, with new push rods installed as
well.
The restoration also included a complete repaint following a full
sandblast, along with new bed wood, battery cables, belts, radiator
hoses, coil, master cylinder, starter, and a complete brake system
refresh including cylinders, hoses, shoes, and hardware. The hand
brake was relined, while the clutch slave cylinder, clutch, and
bearing were also replaced. Additional mechanical work included a
new fuel pump, water pump, voltage regulator, dual exhaust, oil
pump, and steering gearbox.
The power brake booster was rebuilt, the carburetor was rebuilt,
and a Pertronix electronic ignition system was installed. Together,
these upgrades make this GMC more than just a great-looking
classic. It has received significant mechanical attention to help
make it an enjoyable truck to drive.
With its classic GMC styling, 305ci V6, 4-speed manual
transmission, factory air conditioning, 8-lug wheels, distinctive
period accessories, and extensive restoration work, this 1963 GMC
1500 Custom is a fun and distinctive vintage truck with plenty of
personality. Whether you're looking for a unique classic to enjoy
on the road, a conversation starter at local cruise-ins, or a truck
that stands out from the typical restored pickup, this GMC offers a
great combination of style, character, and drivability.
