The engine has been rebuilt and is now approximately 9,000 miles into the restoration. The rebuild included new main bearings, rod bearings, and camshaft bearings, along with reconditioned connecting rods, piston rings, and crankshaft work. The cylinder heads received a valve grind and new seats, with new push rods installed as well.

The restoration also included a complete repaint following a full sandblast, along with new bed wood, battery cables, belts, radiator hoses, coil, master cylinder, starter, and a complete brake system refresh including cylinders, hoses, shoes, and hardware. The hand brake was relined, while the clutch slave cylinder, clutch, and bearing were also replaced. Additional mechanical work included a new fuel pump, water pump, voltage regulator, dual exhaust, oil pump, and steering gearbox.

The power brake booster was rebuilt, the carburetor was rebuilt, and a Pertronix electronic ignition system was installed. Together, these upgrades make this GMC more than just a great-looking classic. It has received significant mechanical attention to help make it an enjoyable truck to drive.
