GR Auto Gallery is excited to introduce this beautifully finished
1951 Chevrolet 3100 Series custom pickup, a classic old-school
street rod that combines timeless vintage character with thoughtful
custom touches and easy-driving manners. Having remained with its
previous owner for more than 25 years and in its current
configuration since the early 2000s, this truck has been carefully
enjoyed, regularly shown throughout the Greater Detroit area, and
even earned a place in the 2011 Woodward Dream Cruise calendar as
feature car for November.
The first thing that grabs your attention is the Zinc Yellow
exterior accented by bold Poppy Red flames. The traditional custom
styling is complemented by classic US Custom Chrome wheels wrapped
in BF Goodrich T/A tires, shaved door handles, keyless entry with
push-button access, and Kool Soft Blue headlights. A Street Glow
neon kit adds another nostalgic touch for evening cruising.
Inside, the cabin is finished wall-to-wall in grained light saddle
tan leatherette, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The
comfortable front bench seat is paired with coordinating tan
carpeting, power windows, a Dakota Digital dash, Lokar nostalgic
shifter, and Sony stereo. The seating position is particularly
comfortable, making this truck just as enjoyable on a longer cruise
as it is at a local show.
Under the hood, the Chevrolet 350 CID V8 has been thoughtfully
upgraded with a mild cam, double-roller timing chain, 600 CFM
Edelbrock carburetor, and polished Edelbrock Performer II intake.
The engine bay is detailed with polished and chrome accents,
including a polished aluminum radiator, chrome open-air filter,
polished valve covers, chrome alternator, polished water pump,
custom billet battery tray and tie-down, power brake booster with
dual master cylinder, and polished grille shroud.
Power is sent through a Turbo 350 automatic transmission equipped
with a B&M mild shift kit and back to a 3.73 Posi rear end.
Driving confidence is further enhanced by power front disc brakes
and rack-and-pinion steering. On the road, this 3100 tracks
straight, drives smoothly, and behaves well in a variety of driving
and traffic conditions. It has the kind of approachable road
manners that encourage you to enjoy it often rather than simply
admire it in the garage.
The custom touches continue into the pickup bed, which is fully
trimmed with matching carpeting and finished with a custom tonneau
cover. From the bright exterior finish to the detailed engine
compartment and carefully appointed interior, this Chevrolet
delivers the unmistakable personality of a classic street rod while
remaining comfortable and enjoyable to drive.
