For Sale: 1967 Chevrolet Camaro in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS 350 Hardtop

The 1967 Camaro appeared on the scene and the General instantly became a big player in the pony car wars. The Camaro had gotten ahead of the curve and was now a leader in the style department because the car already looked like a car from the early 70's even though that era was still 4 years in the future in October 1966. The 1967 Camaro was the star attraction when it debuted in the fall of 1966 and it gave the General an instant classic in the pony car battle.

For consignment, a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS 350 hardtop with a title verified 62,253 actual miles. We see our share of clones at the mall, but this is a real deal SS and while not ultra rare, they represent only about 15% of total Camaro production in 1967.

Exterior
This pony car now wears two stage Garnet Red and if we left it there, that would be cool. But of course, black nose stripes call out the SS and in fact, surround the emblem on the fender. In front of it, a well designed grille, inboard marker lights, and round headlights underlined by a slightly pointed chrome bumper. This configuration would be different in each of the first gen Camaros of course and so is a one year design. The tail lights are shared with the base Camaros of '67, showing a two part lens that includes the reverse white, underscored by a straight bumper and topped by a rear spoiler. 14-inch Chevrolet Rally wheels provide the ideal vintage look, helped by the letters out configuration of the tires. Faux hood vents and a rear spoiler give the car a bit of extra aggression that is warranted by this performance oriented Camaro. Imperfections include general inclusions and bubbling throughout, and some edge chips.

Interior
Black vinyl door panels with thin silver trim present nicely and so do the black bucket seats and rear bench. Slight patina of the steering wheel is noted ahead of the twin cove instrument panel where a column mounted tachometer obscures some of the view with a welcome addition. There is no radio in the center, but there is a vent control panel and an added triple gauge pod underneath. A Hurst shifter rises tall from the transmission tunnel over black loop carpet in good shape, all under a headliner that has seen better days. The trunk is barren and clean with a touch of surface rust to the stamped steel floor.

Drivetrain
A clean and shiny engine awaits and it's a Blueprint 350ci crate engine, here with Blueprint aluminum heads and a Holley 4-barrel carburetor. It's mated to a Richmond 5-speed manual transmission the routes power to the 10 bolt rear axle with 3.36 gears. The car is equipped with power brakes, power steering and headers.

Undercarriage
Generally clean underneath where the headers collect at a 2.5" exhaust, which meets a pair of FlowMaster mufflers on its way to a rear exit. Power drum brakes are on all four wheels and suspension consists of coil springs in front and leaf springs in back.

Drive-Ability
A bellowing exhaust gets our attention as we roll this red Chevrolet onto the test loop where, on 28 year old tires, we're not pushing it. But there's obvious power to the well running engine and the nose down rake makes straight away visibility that much better, plus looks cool from the outside. We note only the reverse lights not working, but everything else functions as it should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

If there's one thing the market has proven, first gen Camaros are among the most desired cars in the classic world. They simply don't hang around here very long and we can proudly say that there are '67 Camaros all over the country that were former guests here at the mall. We suspect this one will follow suit. Don't sleep on it too many nights!
