THE CAR
This Sport Coupe carries a rare specification: the 283 cui V8, three-speed column-shift manual (three on the tree), factory power brakes, and a European km/h speedometer. Built at General Motors Continental in Antwerp using American-sourced components, it left the factory already configured for the European market. The original property certificate traces it from General Motors Overseas Corporation, Lisbon Branch, to its first owner, Alipio das Neves Morais Matias, registered under plate HE-25-44, chassis CAF 593558. Ownership since has stayed within Portugal, Spain, and France, and the car has never been registered outside Portugal, suggesting later owners held it as a collectible rather than a daily driver. The odometer shows 76,607 km, approx. 47,600 miles, unverified but consistent with its history. Original registration documents, factory service manual, and a factory-correct spare wheel, originality unconfirmed, are included. There are no restoration records, but the quality of the work suggests it was done in Portugal during collector ownership.
EXTERIOR
Finished in Inca Silver, a genuine 1959 factory color, with the era's sweeping tailfins, cat-eye taillights, the batwing look, and wraparound windshield. Chrome is excellent, panel gaps are straight, and the underside, frame, floor pans, and undercoating all look remarkably fresh for the car's age. Engine bay and trunk floor are clean and solid. A few minor age-appropriate imperfections show up on close inspection, nothing that detracts from the overall impression.
INTERIOR
Leather upholstery in matching grey and silver, looking essentially new and likely retrimmed during restoration. The dashboard keeps its period Chevrolet instrumentation, the speedometer reads in km/h, and the three-speed column shifter operates as it should, no automatic, no modern intervention, just a big V8 and a manual shift on the column.
