1994 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo AWD Coupe

"For the first few years of production, Stealths featured pop up headlights as well as grafted on plastic "blister covers," an inelegant solution to ensure that the hood would clear the strut towers. For 1994, a redesigned hood solved the issue. There were upgrades beneath that hood, too, with output in the R/T Turbo climbing to 320 horsepower and 315 pound feet of torque and the 5-speed manual transmission gaining an extra forward gear. For consignment, a 1994 Dodge Stealth R/T twin turbo AWD coupe with a title verified 84,636 actual miles. Hagerty continues, "The Dodge Stealth was a real head turner in period. Today the same may be said, but only because you rarely see one. Which is a shame. The Stealth has aged well, and performance is still on par with that of many new cars.". This one represents just 924 built in 1994.

Exterior
Tinges of GM F-bodies come to mind, but the shape here is unique, shared only of course, by the Mitsubishi 3000GT, its twin. The Grayish White Pearl paint allows the smoked cover over projection style headlight to really pop, and the glass roof, black frame, and sloping rear window stand out with a unique configuration. There are some other dramatic features which include the deep curvature of the lower door which creates a duct like indent in front and somehow manages side air turbulence. In the back, the air is handled by a wing mounted at the base of the rear window, leaving the decklid, flush tail lights and one piece rear cover unobstructed by wind. Integrated splitters on that piece are flanked by dual twin exhaust tips for an aggressive rear view. Added 18-inch Konig wheels carry even ZR rated tires and contrast the pearl paint with black. Imperfections include orange peel finish on the hood, peeling clear, a few scratches, scuffs on tail light lens, edgewear, cloudy headlight covers, bit of rust at wheel opening, chips in the urethane, discoloration on the rocker panel, chips throughout, and chin scrapes.

Interior
Interesting door contours find their way to the inside too where a crease in the black leather inserts seems purposeful while the rest of the doors are efficient and simple. Well bolstered leather buckets await the front riders with some typical wear on the driver's side, and the rear 2+2 are in good shape with deep indentations of their own to keep occupants grounded. Up front, a rather pedestrian steering wheel fronts a simple instrument cluster flanked to the right by a race inspired row of dials canted towards the driver and along with the shifter at the ready, creates a welcoming performance interior. The center stack is home to the A/C panel and an AM/FM/Cassette radio with equalizer that allowed us to be our own personal DJ's in this era! Nice charcoal carpet covers the floor while the gray headliner and sunroof cover show a touch of age, as does the carpet of the rear hatch.

Drivetrain
Filling the entire engine bay is a 3.0 liter DOHC twin turbo V6, fuel injected and pumping out 320 horsepower. There's a 6-speed manual transmission on board and power is routed through axles at both ends and 3.869 gears.

Undercarriage
Surface rust and corrosion consistent with the age and mileage prevails underneath. Here you'll find dual exhaust through stock style mufflers and power disc brakes all around which our consignor states are Mitsubishi Evo units. The fully independent suspension includes Macpherson struts front and rear.

Drive-Ability
The comfortable cabin in driver focused and comfortable and the twin turbo propels us onto the test loop where the car performs well. The tires are from 2014 and show some dry rot, so we're feathering this boosted V6 around the track, just to test functionality. We note the antilock brake light is on and the A/C is not working. All other functions work as they should and it's time to get this rarely seen car on the showroom floor to be seen! We've seen more 3000GT's at the mall than Stealths, and the twin turbo is a rare bird indeed! Don't be stealthy about your interest in this car! Dodge had a relationship with Godzilla and this is what they produced!
