1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Pro Street For Sale 468 Big Block *
550 HP * TH400 * 12-Bolt 4.11 Posi * Grudge Car * 35-Year Ownership
This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu is a serious big-tire street
machine backed by an impressive 35 years of current ownership.
Built around a pump-gas 468ci big-block, Freddy Brown-built Turbo
400, 12-bolt rear with 4.11 gears, and a single-stage 175-shot
nitrous system, its a well-developed street/strip Chevelle thats
been with the same enthusiast for more than three decades. And to
be clear from the start this is a Malibu, not an SS. What it does
offer is the iconic 1970 Chevelle body wrapped around a potent
combination thats reported to make approximately 550 horsepower
naturally aspirated while remaining completely comfortable running
on pump gas. The 468ci Chevrolet big-block has approximately 5,000
miles on it and features Dart aluminum cylinder heads, a
street-oriented solid roller camshaft, high-rise aluminum intake,
780 Holley DP carburetor, MSD ignition, and Blaster 2 coil. Cooling
is handled by a large aluminum radiator with an electric fan. A
single-stage nitrous system with a 175-horsepower shot is installed
for additional performance when desired. According to the owner,
the combination has run in the 11.50-second range naturally
aspirated and into the mid-10-second range with the nitrous. These
are owner-reported performance figures rather than independently
verified track results. Backing the big-block is a Freddy
Brown-built Turbo 400 automatic transmission that was recently
redone. It uses a reverse-pattern manual valve body, Hurst ratchet
shifter, trans brake, and an approximately 2,800-3,200-rpm stall
converter. Power is sent to a 12-bolt rear end equipped with a
recently installed Eaton Truetrac differential and 4.11 gears.

hardware, this has remained a street-driven Chevelle and has never
had a roll cage. The owner describes it as a car that can be driven
all day, with the big-block happily running on readily available
pump gas. The suspension retains the factory-style four-link
arrangement with a Hotchkis rear suspension package and rear
coilovers. Massive 315/60R15 Mickey Thompson ET Street rear tires
give the Malibu its unmistakable big-tire stance. The body is
described as very straight and retains its original quarter panels
and original doors. The front sheet metal, bumpers, and trunk lid,
trunk floor and have been replaced years ago. Another significant
update is all-new glass throughout the car, improving both its
appearance and usability. The exterior is finished in satin black
with pearl white stripes and topped by a fiberglass cowl hood that
leaves little doubt about whats underneath. Exterior & Chassis *

Street-driven build Inside, the Chevelle retains much of its
traditional Malibu character with red bucket seats, center console,
factory-style door panels, and original floorboards. Black
carpeting was installed to provide contrast against the red
upholstery. The factory gauges are reported to work, including the
speedometer, while a comprehensive collection of AutoMeter gauges
monitors the performance drivetrain. Additional instrumentation
includes water temperature, oil pressure, transmission temperature,
voltage, and nitrous-related monitoring. A large AutoMeter
Sport-Comp tachometer is mounted prominently for easy visibility.
The ignition, electric fuel pump, and radiator fan have dedicated
controls, while the car continues to start with the key. An
auxiliary starter button is also fitted. A Kenwood stereo and rear
6x9 speakers provide entertainment when the big-block isnt
supplying the soundtrack. Interior & Equipment * Red bucket-seat

currently disconnected for summer use. Perhaps one of the strongest
parts of this Chevelles story is its 35-year ownership history.
Rather than being a recently assembled car passed from owner to
owner, it has been developed, maintained, and enjoyed by the same
owner for more than three decades. This Chevelle isnt pretending to
be a concours restoration or a factory Super Sport. Its a real
Malibu transformed into a potent, long-term-owned street/strip
machine, and thats exactly where its appeal lies. With 35 years of
ownership, only approximately 5,000 miles on the 468 big block, a
175- shot nitrous system, built TH400 with trans brake, 12-bolt
Eaton Truetrac rear with 4.11 gears, all-new glass, and massive
Mickey Thompson rear tires, this is a seriously capable 1970
Chevelle that can still be taken out and enjoyed on the street. For
