History

A previous owner performed a partial restoration in the 1990s. The body was removed, stripped, and repainted in its original color. Receipts documenting that earlier work have been retained.

From approximately 1996 through 2019, the Corvette was owned by a longtime high-school friend of mine.

During those years, the car was stored and driven VERY few miles. I ultimately purchased the Corvette from his estate in 2019. So it basically sat for about 23 years.

After decades, many of the components naturally reflected their age. I decided to take that nice Corvette and bring it to the level it deserved.

Restoration and Mechanical Work

Since acquiring the car, I have invested extensively in the Corvette.

The engine had been rebuilt at some point by a previous owner. When I acquired the Corvette, the engine's lower end was in good condition and did not require rebuilding. I completed the remaining engine work, including rebuilding the original 471X heads fuelly and installing a new camshaft, bearings, lifters, and other necessary components.

The transmission was rebuilt, the rear end received new gears, and a new clutch was installed.

The gauges and tachometer were professionally restored. The seats, dash, and windshield were replaced.

The exterior was professionally repainted in the Corvette's correct original Ermine White, replacing the

older paint from the previous restoration. The chrome and stainless-steel trim were restored and polished.

Interior

The interior has been restored to an exceptionally high standard, including quality upholstery from Al Knoch

The Dash covering , instrument panel, and gauges have received extensive attention. The instrument panel and gauge lenses are in exceptional condition (one of the nicest i have seen in a C1 Corvette) The heater assembly and shrouding have been restored with new parts,

The engine compartment also presents in a notably original and correct manner.

Driving and Safety  The front and rear suspension springs have been replaced, along with the front and , rear suspension bushings, as well as shockexorbers.

The Corvette has no squeaks or rattles, runs and drives exceptionally well, and has the character and road manners expected of a properly sorted 1962 Corvette.

For safety and drivability, front disc brakes and a dual master cylinder were added. The original brake components have been retained and will accompany the car.

Condition

The UNDERSIDe has not been cosmetically been detailed to the same level as the exterior and interior. It remains largely as it was following the earlier restoration work completed in the 1990s and could benefit from additional cosmetic detailing. The mechanical components requiring attention have been addressed.

Documentation and Included Parts

The Corvette will be accompanied by the written certification from Twin Oaks Classic Corvette, receipts and records from the restoration and mechanical work, and documentation from the earlier restoration.

Original parts removed during the restoration and safety upgrades have been retained and will accompany the car.
