1968 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport Convertible 396 V8 Classic Rides
& Rods is proud to offer this stunning 1968 Chevrolet Impala Super
Sport Convertible with rare Hideaway Headlights, finished in a
beautiful deep red with a contrasting white power convertible top
and white bucket-seat interior. With its unmistakable full-size
Chevrolet styling, big-block power and desirable Super Sport
equipment, this Impala makes an impressive statement from every
angle. Power comes from a period-correct 396ci Chevrolet big-block
V8 paired with an automatic transmission. The engine carries a
T0105ED stamping, identifying it as a Tonawanda-built 396. It is
not being represented as the original numbers-matching engine. The
engine compartment retains a classic appearance with Chevrolet
orange engine paint, chrome valve covers and an Edelbrock air
cleaner. The car is equipped with power steering and power brakes,
discs front brakes, making this large convertible comfortable and
enjoyable on the road. One of its most desirable exterior features
is the hideaway headlight system, which gives the Impala's wide
front grille a particularly clean appearance. Inside, you'll find a
handsome white bucket-seat interior with center console and
floor-mounted automatic shifter. The pearl white upholstery
contrasts beautifully with the black dashboard and deep red
exterior, creating the upscale yet sporty appearance these Super
Sport cars are known for. The body presents exceptionally well with
deep, glossy red paint, straight-looking body panels and excellent
reflections. Chrome bumpers, stainless trim, Super Sport badging,
396 fender emblems and factory-style wheels complete the period
appearance. The white convertible top also presents nicely and
provides the perfect finishing touch. The VIN, 164678S156710,
identifies this as a 1968 Chevrolet Impala V8 convertible built at
the St. Louis assembly plant. Because Chevrolet offered the Super
Sport as an option package in 1968 rather than identifying it
through a unique SS VIN series, the car is being represented based
upon its present Super Sport equipment rather than as a documented
numbers-matching example. This is a beautiful big-block Impala
convertible that offers the combination collectors want: 396 V8
power, bucket seats, console, hideaway headlights, power top and
outstanding color combination. Highlights: 396ci big-block V8
