Porsche had a brief ‘identity crisis’ in the closing years of the 1970s and the early 1980s. As the story goes, company leadership had determined the 911 was to end with the SC and be fully replaced with the expensive, front-engined 928. However, buyers still flocked to the 911 and a new CEO (Peter Schutz) declared the model was here to stay. With the next-generation 964 delayed until late-1989 and ever-more stringent emissions regulations coming in 1983, the company elected to release a final iteration of the ‘G-body’ cars: the Carrera 3.2.

So named for the displacement of its Flat-6 (increased from the SC’s 3.0L), the new car’s engine offered updated fuel-injection and new ignition controllers for 207hp in US-specification. With torque more readily available throughout the rev range, the new car was more pleasant to drive than ever. Additionally, previously option equipment such as air conditioning and power windows became standard equipment for the US-market cars. A second major driveability improvement, the G50 transmission, was introduced for the 1987 model year. As the last of the classic ‘G-body’ 911s, the Carrera 3.2 is well regarded by enthusiasts and collectors alike. G50-equipped cars are particularly desirable and tend to fetch premiums in comparison to earlier examples.

The investment-grade 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Sunroof Coupe featured here is finished in elegant Grand Prix White over an impeccably kept Marine Blue leather interior. This exceptional example has had just one family owner  and driven a mere 35,950 miles from new. We are proud to offer what we believe to be one of the best examples of this highly sought-after model to the market today. Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires only the very best an investment price!
