Offered for sale is my stepfather's 1972 Oldsmobile 442 Coupe, a genuine 442 that he proudly owned for more than 20 years. A lifelong hot rod and muscle car enthusiast, he regularly attended automotive events, including the annual Turkey Run, and enjoyed sharing his passion for classic cars with fellow enthusiasts. Unfortunately, advancing arthritis eventually prevented him from continuing to work on the vehicle, and the car remained stored indoors in his garage. Following his passing, we would like to see this beautiful Oldsmobile go to someone who appreciates these cars and can continue its restoration journey.
Vehicle Information:
Mechanical Condition: The vehicle recently underwent inspection by a local mechanic. During evaluation, a new battery, spark plugs, and ignition-related components were installed while assessing the engine's condition. The engine turns over and will run, but it runs poorly and requires additional mechanical attention. Written estimates are available for engine rebuilding/replacement options as well as brake system restoration. The vehicle should be considered a restoration or recommissioning project and is not currently road-ready.
Body and Paint: The body is in exceptionally well shape for its age and benefits from decades of indoor storage. Paint retains a strong shine following a recent professional detail, and the car draws attention wherever it is seen. Body lines appear straight, chrome presents well, and the vehicle maintains the muscular styling that made the 442 one of Oldsmobile's most iconic performance cars. To the best of our knowledge, there are no known rust issues. As with any classic vehicle, prospective buyers are encouraged to inspect the car personally.
Interior: One of the strongest features of this car is its completeness.
The interior provides an excellent foundation for preservation or restoration.
