indicated OVERVIEW A frame-on restoration began in California in
1998. The car has subsequently benefited from continued
maintenance, repair and thoughtful upgrades. The present owner
purchased the Cadillac in November 2017. The Cadillac is best
understood as a restomod: it retains the formal appearance and
major character of the original Fleetwood while incorporating
selected mechanical, electrical and convenience improvements
intended to make it more reliable and pleasant to drive.
RESTORATION & FINISH The car was originally black. During
restoration it was refinished in Toyota 1F3 Silver/Satin Pearl, a
2002-2003 Toyota color, with the same finish carried through the
painted interior surfaces. The interior was renewed with new
upholstery and carpeting. Chrome and stainless components were
restored to a high standard. Selected Cadillac decorative hardware,
including the front and rear Cadillac V emblems, received 24-karat
gold plating. POWERTRAIN The original 331-cubic-inch engine is no
longer installed. The car uses a rebuilt 1959 Cadillac 390 V8.
Restoration documentation includes substantial engine-machine work
performed in California in 1998. The Cadillac Jetaway transmission
is dated 1960. Prior-owner history states the donor transmission
had approximately 44,600 miles when acquired. The transmission
later received additional service, resealing and leak repair during
current ownership. ELECTRICAL, FUEL & CONVENIENCE The car was
converted to 12 volts with gauges modified accordingly. Pertronix
electronic ignition replaced the original points/condenser system.
An electric fuel pump was installed to improve fuel delivery and
reduce vapor-lock concerns. Factory power steering, power seat,
power windows and power radio antenna are retained. The front-door
power-window mechanisms were updated with modern electric
components for improved reliability. A Nostalgia Air aftermarket
air-conditioning system was discreetly installed behind the factory
radio location. The factory signal-seeking radio itself was removed
as part of that installation; an aftermarket AM/FM/CD radio is
mounted below the center of the dashboard. BRAKES, SUSPENSION,
WHEELS & TIRES The Cadillac retains four-wheel drum brakes and has
received documented brake maintenance. Rear air shocks were added
during earlier ownership. Correct-style steel wheels were restored
and fitted with Diamond Back II 235/75R15 wide-whitewall tires and
period-correct Cadillac Sombrero full wheel covers. MILEAGE The
odometer currently indicates approximately 22,275 miles. It was
reset when the restoration was completed. Original total mileage
accumulated before restoration is unknown; therefore the figure is
stated only as current indicated mileage and may increase modestly
while the car continues to be driven during the sales period.
SCREEN HISTORY The Cadillac was featured as a picture car in the
2019 motion picture Mob Town. The car is visible in the finished
film and is supported by production, behind-the-scenes and official
promotional/trailer imagery. The glove-box door retains a
handwritten inscription placed there at the conclusion of filming
by director Danny A. Abeckaser. The Cadillac was subsequently used
in the Hallmark movie Christmas Spectacular, filmed locally in
Kingston, New York, in 2022. DOCUMENTATION The owner retains
extensive invoices, receipts, restoration records and service
documentation dating from the 1998 California restoration through
current ownership. The complete documentation file can be made
available to seriously interested prospective buyers for review. *
