Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is proud to present 1940 Ford
1/2 Ton Pickup. This classic Ford pickup has been transformed into
a restomod that blends the unmistakable character of a pre-war Ford
truck with modern performance and comfort. Finished in a desert tan
exterior, this truck shows really well and brings a distinctive
presence to the road while retaining the classic shape and styling
that made these early Ford pickups so recognizable.
Under the hood is a 350 CID V8 paired with an SBC Ramjet
fuel-injected V8 setup, providing a modern approach to powering
this vintage pickup. The engine is backed by an automatic
transmission with overdrive, giving the truck the convenience of
modern highway cruising. The chassis is equipped with power
steering and power brakes, while a 9-bolt rear end completes the
drivetrain. The truck also features a hydraulic brake cylinder
mounted to the passenger side of the frame. According to the owner,
the truck is built on a Pete and Jakes chassis, although there is
no documentation available to verify this.
The all-steel body gives this Ford the authentic construction of
its era, while the wooden bed adds another layer of traditional
pickup character. Inside, the truck features a black TMI interior
with black vinyl upholstery, along with power windows and air
conditioning. These additions make the cabin considerably more
accommodating for modern driving while maintaining the vintage
truck atmosphere.
The 1940 Ford 1/2 Ton Pickup represents an era when pickup trucks
were built with simple, unmistakable styling and a focus on
utility. Today, restomod builds like this one offer enthusiasts a
way to enjoy that classic appearance while incorporating updated
drivetrain and comfort features. With its desert tan finish, wooden
bed, V8 power, overdrive automatic transmission, air conditioning,
power steering, power windows, and black TMI interior, this Ford
offers a distinctive combination of vintage truck styling and
modernized driving features.
