1971 Jaguar E-Type Series 3, V12 2+2
Rebuilt V12 with Fuel Injection and modern wiring, Cold Air Conditioning, Show Winner
This Series 3 E-Type is for the buyer who wants to drive a Jaguar V12, not worry about one. Every well-known weak point of these cars — Lucas electrics, carburetor tuning, cooling, brakes, air conditioning that never quite worked — has been engineered out, and the work was done properly and professionally. The result is a car that looks the way a 1971 E-Type should but also starts, runs, stops, and cools the way a modern car does.
Finished in the stunning primrose yellow over biscuit leather with chrome wire wheels, a 4-speed manual, and factory air conditioning that blows cold. Exhibited at one car show, where it took 1st place.
ENGINE AND DRIVETRAIN
- Complete V12 rebuild, 687 miles since. Compression raised to 9:1.
- Carburetors replaced with fuel injection from a 1986 XJS. Computer sent to AJ6 Engineering in England and professionally reprogrammed. High-volume in-tank fuel pump.
- New clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing. Flywheel resurfaced.
- 4-speed manual fully gone through.
- High-volume oil pump. Stainless exhaust.
- Aluminum radiator, high-volume water pump, dual 50-amp electric fans. Holds 188 degrees. Has never run hot.
SUSPENSION AND BRAKES
- Wilwood front disc brakes.
- All new front bushings and torsion bars.
- Rear IRS serviced with remote bleeder lines added.
- Chassis set level at 5.5 inches both sides.
ELECTRICAL AND AC
- Entire Lucas harness removed. Rewired bumper to bumper with American Autowire. One-wire GM alternator.
- Factory AC with updated compressor. Blows very cold.
INTERIOR
- XK120-style dash with toggle switches, push-button start, fog light switches.
- New Stewart Warner gauges.
- New headliner, new carpets, headrests re-foamed. Leather excellent.
- Pioneer head unit with slide-out screen, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, streaming, front and backup cameras.
- Custom leather tool roll included.
WHEELS AND TIRES
- New Pirelli tires all around plus a new matching Pirelli spare. About 600-700 miles on them.
