For Sale: 1968 Buick Riviera in Fenton, Michigan

1968 Buick Riviera | 430ci V8 | Rebuilt Engine and Transmission

A 1968 Riviera two-door sport coupe built at Euclid, Ohio, powered by Buick's 430ci V8 with a four-barrel carburetor, rated at 360 horsepower and 475 lb-ft when new, backed by the column-shifted Super Turbine 400 three-speed automatic. The car has had extensive mechanical work over the last two years, including a full engine rebuild in January 2026. It presents well and drives as it should, with the honest flaws listed below.

Paint
Repainted in 2026 in Olive Green, the same color it wore when I bought it. The finish has good gloss and there is no bubbling or lifting anywhere on the body.

Engine (rebuilt January 2026)
The 430 was rebuilt with machining work and a carburetor rebuild, plus new pushrods, lifters, harmonic balancer, valve covers, valley-pan gasket, spark plugs, ignition wires, belts, water pump, coolant hoses, fuel pump, and carburetor-choke thermostat. Upgrades installed at the same time: aluminum radiator with auxiliary electric cooling fan, billet-aluminum distributor, Melling oil pump, PerTronix ignition coil, and ARP cylinder-head bolts. The alternator, starter, heater core, and battery have also been replaced. Chrome-plated air-cleaner cover. MagnaFlow mufflers. Only a few hundred miles have been put on since the rebuild.

Transmission and driveline
The Super Turbine 400 was rebuilt in 2024 with a new torque converter. The transmission mount was replaced and the fluid changed in January 2026. The driveshaft has been rebuilt.

Chassis and brakes
Front suspension rebuilt in 2024 with a Kanter Auto kit covering bushings, tie-rod ends, and ball joints. Front and rear shocks, brake shoes, and tires all replaced in 2024. Power-assisted drum brakes at all four corners, power steering. Chrome-plated 15" styled wheels on General Altimax RT45 tires, 235/70.

Exterior
White vinyl roof, power antenna, driver-side mirror, side-marker lamps, bright lower-body trim and side moldings, chrome bumpers. New windshield in 2026. The car wears GS badging. For what it's worth, the 1968 Gran Sport package was a $132 option that added a 3.42 limited-slip rear axle, firmer suspension, 70-series tires, and badging, with no engine change. I have not verified this car as a factory GS, so it is being sold as a standard Riviera with GS badges.

Interior
Bench seats in green and gold cloth and vinyl, wood-rimmed steering wheel on a tilt column, 120-mph speedometer with coolant temperature and fuel gauges, cruise control, electric clock, courtesy lights, front and rear lap belts, fold-down front center armrest, and a rear-seat speaker. The glovebox was replaced, the door panels were refinished with green carpeting. There are stains and discoloration in places, shown in the photos.

What does not work / needs attention

Air conditioning blows but does not get cold
Push-button AM/FM radio is inoperative
Rear-window defroster does not work
The drop-down headlight doors have been disabled and the lights are fixed in the open or closed position
The grille is broken ( Replacement included )
The vinyl top shows minor discoloration
Driver window needs help going up.

Replacement grille, a second set of headlamps, a Sonomatic AM radio, additional spare parts, and service records from the prior owner.
