For Sale: 1959 Porsche 356 in Englewood, Colorado

Vehicle Description

One of only 1331 one-year-only Convertible D Supers made, this is a USA-spec car originally sold new by Max Hoffman. It was ordered in rarely-seen Messen Blue, beautifully set off with a rich red interior & black top & tonneau. The Porsche COA confirms it still has the original 1600 Super engine that has been recently rebuilt.Factory options also included the Leitz luggage rack and a driver’s sun visor.

Very similar to the Speedster model, but with a taller windshield, roll-up windows (!) and much more comfortable seats from the coupe, the Convertible D is far nicer to actually drive (your wife will ride in it).(It’s important to remember the Super delivers 25% more horsepower than the Normal 1600). This exceptional Super has a well-documented over-thirty-year history in Colorado, formally owned by a writer for the 356 Registry and has always been maintained at a highly original level.

Within the past 18 months it has received a concours-level complete refinish in the original Messen Blue in correct single-stage paint and new red leather & carpets.Recent Vredestien tires on the properly date-coded wheels plus the trunk tools & spare complete a show-winning presentation.

Accompanied with original owner’s books, the COA and much additional documentation and a period-popular wood-rim Nardi steering wheel comes along as an extra—plus the original Hoffman license plate frame!

There is probably only a handful of these cars surviving and only a couple that have been brought to this condition, so finding one like this doesn’t happen often—particularly in such a striking color presentation.Literally, a ‘blue chip’ with exciting appreciation potential.
