INTRODUCTION: Talk about the ultimate sleeper! This Chevelle 300
post coupe looks like a stripped down grandma grocery getter, but
don't let the innocent appearance fool you. Underneath is some
serious muscle- a 427, 4-speed and 4.10 posi. Better yet, it's been
treated to a meticulous nut and bolt, body off frame
restoration.
EXTERIOR: This post coupe is the definition of a sleeper. Looking
at it, there's virtually nothing to indicate the muscle lurking
under the hood. The body is absolutely straight and pristine, with
gaps that are about as good as they get. From the rockers to the
roof, every surface is straight, smooth and polished. The metallic
is laid out evenly and the clear coat has a super glossy finish.
The stainless trim and chrome has been replaced or restored, and it
even has the correct style bowtie mirror.along with the
weatherstrips and seals. The glass is crystal clear and along the
weatherstrips and seals have been replaced. Completing the sleeper
look are 15-inch painted poverty wheels with poverty dog dish
hubcaps, wrapped in BFGoodrich tires with custom redlines.
INTERIOR: The turquoise interior is restored like brand new from
the carpet to the headliner. The floor has 300 Deluxe embroidered
carpeted mats and the correct 4-speed shifter for the bench seat.
The upholstery, door panels, armrests, visors, and headliner have
all been replaced. The dash features a 160-mph speedometer,
tachometer, and gauges, along with radio and heater delete,
although it does have the optional padded dash. The steering wheel
is restored, the window cranks and handles were replaced, and seat
belts have been added.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Built by R&R Racing, the 427 is making 425+
hp! Starting with a 454 block it was built as a 427, topped with
aluminum heads, a Bowtie aluminum intake, dual-feed 750 Holley carb
with electric choke, HEI ignition, and coated headers. It runs cool
with an aluminum radiator and water pump, factory shroud, and
clutch fan. Everything looks fresh and proper, including the fuel
pump, alternator, brackets, and pulleys. It also has power steering
with a remote reservoir and an upgraded dual-reservoir master
cylinder. The engine bay is exceptionally clean and detailed, with
smooth painted metal surfaces throughout. Cast aluminum Motion
valve covers finish it off nicely.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Inside is spotless and complete. Under the trunk
lid and the jamb are painted as slick as the exterior. Inside is
clean metal with a neatly applied spatter finish. It's complete
with the jack assembly, a matching new BFGoodrich tire on a painted
rim, reproduction mat, correct stickers, and fresh
weatherstrip.
UNDERSIDE: Underneath, this '65 Chevelle is immaculate! It's
literally a nut and bolt, body off frame restoration. Every part of
the suspension looks new, including CPP springs, UMI rear control
arms, and front and rear sway bars. The brake system was upgraded
with front discs, and all the lines and e-brake assembly were
replaced. It has a neatly installed dual exhaust with Flowmaster
mufflers that sounds great. The fuel system was replaced, including
the tank. Looking up at the motor, it is spotless and features a
high-torque starter, backed by a Muncie 4-speed manual
transmission. A new driveshaft leads back to a 12-bolt rear end
with 4.10 posi gears. All the metal underneath, including the
chassis, is smooth- not even pitted. The floors are dry, clean, and
solid, all painted black. Everything underneath still looks fresh
and detailed.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and our reputation. Every
vehicle goes through our service department where it is inspected,
test driven, and we address the essentials before offering it for
sale.
CONCLUSION: None of the frills, but all of the thrills! This
ultimate sleeper takes you right back to the muscle car era. The
meticulous nut-and-bolt, body-off-frame restoration is exceptional-
you could look at a hundred Chevelles and this one would be among
the very best!
