For Sale: 1990 Lamborghini LM002 in Huntington Station, New York

INCOMIGN INVENTORY......--Black with Black leather and White stitching, Black carpeting, 31,000 kilometers (19,000 miles), 5.2-liter DOHC 48-valve V-12 engine with 450bhp, 5-speed manual transmission, Custom interior upgrades, 1 of 48.The LM 002 was first introduced as a concept car known as the Cheetah in the late 1970s. The Cheetah was a mid-engine truck designed to be used by the military. These plans fell through so Lamborghini decided to make a civilian version and resurrect these plans in the mid-1980s. The mid-engine Chrysler V8 layout was changed in favor of a front engine Lamborghini V12 sourced from none other than the Countach. The LM 002 boasted a 76-gallon fuel tank and specially designed Pirelli Scorpion tiresa run-flat design reinforced with Kevlar that could also handle extreme desert heat. Just over 300 examples of the LM 002 were produced between 1986 and 1993. In 1990, a slightly more refined version of the truck was launched and gradually phased in called the LM American. These trucks were fitted with sloping hoods thanks to Lamborghini's US-friendly LIE 52/12 electronic fuel injection system (similar to that of the recently introduced Diablo). LM Americans were also fitted with attractive OZ eight spoke alloy wheels and a nicer interior with much leather and wood. Customers could go to any lengths to personalize their machinery. Only about 48 were built to the so-called LM American or LM/A specifications and delivered to the United States. No SUV has since come close to Lamborghini's outrageous monster - it remains truly unique.This LM 002 was produced in August of 1990 and has been previously owned by Al Unser Jr. Previously it has also been in collector ownership and maintained regardless of use within his private collection and was treated to all new leather including the center console. Seat inserts are done in Alcantara with white diamond stitching. The interior was dressed with matching floor mats. The paint was coated with Ceramic coating. A new set of correct Pirelli Scorpion 345/60 tires were fitted (Pirelli released a new batch of OEM specific LM 002 at this time and this LM was fortunate enough to have these installed). It was also fitted with an upgraded Alpine Bluetooth radio with upgraded speakers. A factory owners manual is included. This LM drives excellently and all systems work as they should. It is in superb condition throughout and is ready for immediate cruising or off-road use or to wow anybody at your local Cars & Coffee events. We have owned many LM 002s over the years, this is one of the best, if not the best we have owned to date.
