Offered here is an exceptionally presented 1987 Rolls-Royce Corniche II Drophead Coupe, a motorcar that embodies the elegance, craftsmanship, and quiet authority for which Rolls-Royce is celebrated. Finished in timeless acrylic white with tan fine lines and a tan convertible top over sumptuous tan Connolly leather, this Corniche II is a highly distinguished example of one of the most graceful open Rolls-Royce designs ever produced.

Named for the Grand Corniche, the spectacular coastal road between Nice and Monte Carlo, the Corniche represented the pinnacle of bespoke luxury motoring in its era. Hand-built by Mulliner Park Ward craftsmen and craftswomen in London and Crewe, each Corniche required months of skilled labor to complete. Expensive, exclusive, and produced in limited numbers, the Corniche became the preferred open motorcar of royalty, celebrities, and discerning collectors worldwide.

This particular Corniche II benefits from excellent provenance and long-term enthusiast ownership. Sold new by Carriage House Motor Cars in New York City, it has remained in the Northeast, with known ownership history in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The current owner from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, acquired the car from a fellow Rolls-Royce Owners’ Club member after an extensive national search. The car had already been carefully maintained for many years, including service by Palma Classic Cars, before being further elevated to concours standard.

Open motoring in a Corniche is unlike any other experience. The 6.75-litre V8 delivers effortless power, the automatic transmission shifts with seamless composure, and the ride quality remains famously serene. With the top lowered, the Corniche offers a uniquely glamorous blend of presence, comfort, and craftsmanship—equally at home on a concours lawn, a country road, or a grand touring route along the coast.

This exquisite Rolls Royce is accompanied by the original showroom selectors, original wheels and steering wheel, factory-built documentation, service records, sales brochure, and a picnic hamper with accessories.

More than $150,000 has reportedly been invested to bring the car to its current standard, with extensive attention paid to both cosmetic and mechanical details. The work included restoration and replacement of numerous components, including the transmission, NOS lenses, radio speakers, electronics, blend doors, seals, related systems, fuel injectors, spark plugs, air conditioning compressor (134A refrigerant), accumulators, a recent oil and filter change, and five new Avon TurboSteel tires.

The engine condition was further validated by Blackstone Laboratories oil analysis, and the car is said to run and perform as new.

Its exceptional quality has been consistently recognized in premier Rolls-Royce and antique automobile judging. Notably, this Rolls Royce achieved an impressive 396 out of 400 points at the RROC Concours, was featured on the cover of The Atlantic Lady, the publication of the RROC Atlantic Region, and was the subject of an article in The Flying Lady – November/December 2023. Its distinguished awards include:

  • RROC National Touring First Place – 2017
  • AACA National Meet First Place Awards – 2021 and 2022
  • RROC Concours First Place – 2023, scoring 396/400 points
  • Radnor Hunt Concours Hagerty Youth Judging First Place – 2024
  • AACA Grand National First Place – 2026

The result is a Corniche II of rare distinction: elegant, highly original, comprehensively serviced, and concours proven. With its hand-built Mulliner Park Ward coachwork, original V8 powertrain, exquisite Connolly leather interior, and superb presentation, this motorcar stands as a refined expression of British luxury at its most iconic.

This award-winning 1987 Rolls-Royce Corniche II is a superb opportunity for the collector seeking one of the finest examples of the marque’s legendary drophead coupe: a motorcar of timeless beauty, impeccable character, and enduring prestige.
