With the dramatic success of the 1932 Ford and its available V8, Ford capitalized on consumer desire for more power and better drivability. A plethora of body styles with attractive styling and a choice between Standard and Deluxe trim levels helped the company sell hundreds of thousands of cars through 1934. For 1935, the Model 48 made the V8 standard (previously a four-cylinder was standard) and more modern styling was introduced along with some updates to the usability of the cars. 1937 proved to be more of a transitory year, particularly for the company's utility vehicles.
While sedans, coupes, and other typical consumer cars received new styling, trucks, vans, and other "commercial" vehicles retained styling from 1935. Once again, the V8 was standard across all models and trims, but was now offered in 60hp or 85hp variants. Sales were once again impressive, with bodywork available for essentially any need or desire. The 1938 through 1940 Fords were largely similar except for styling changes, leading up to the major updates in 1941. Any Ford from this period is a remarkably easy to drive vehicle, even in today's traffic, making them excellent choices for those who wish to enjoy their vehicles on a regular basis.
