Cruisin Classics is proud to present this 1970 Buick Skylark Custom
Convertible. A sharp-looking cruiser finished in a respray of its
original Burnished Saddle Poly. The paint has a nice overall
presentation with the kind of honest imperfections you'd expect on
a driver-quality classic, while the bright work is largely in good
condition with only a couple areas showing some wear. The car sits
right on a set of aftermarket Magnum 500-style wheels with Buick
center caps, wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. The window
glass throughout is exceptionally clean and looks new, and the car
has a brand-new convertible top that looks great and operates
exactly as it should. Inside, this Skylark has been nicely brought
up to date with all-new upholstery, carpet, door panels, gauges,
and a new Buick three-spoke steering wheel. The dash pad is
crack-free, the power windows operate smoothly, and the heater puts
out good heat with a strong fan. The radio is currently
inoperative.
Where this Buick really separates itself is underneath. The car has
been completely taken off the frame and thoroughly restored
underneath, with the floor pans and frame fully redone and coated
in Lizard Skin for added protection. All of the body bushings have
been replaced, along with the brake and transmission lines. The
suspension and steering have been gone through from front to back,
with new upper and lower control arms, spindles, front disc and
rear drum brakes, springs, shocks, steering box, inner and outer
tie rods, sway bars, bushings, and ball joints. The car also
received a new power master starter, boxed trailing arms, and a GM
10-bolt rear end. There's a new gas tank underneath as well. A full
dual exhaust system with turbo mufflers gives the car a proper V8
sound without being obnoxious. It's obvious that a substantial
amount of time, money, and effort went into making the chassis and
underside of this Skylark something you can actually enjoy rather
than just something that looks good sitting still.
Under the hood is a Buick 350ci V8 that has been fully overhauled
to what we believe are factory specifications. It's backed by a
TH350 automatic transmission and the engine compartment presents
very nicely, with plenty of new components including a new coolant
overflow tank, alternator, power steering pump, and brake master
cylinder and booster with dual reservoir. This isn't being
presented as a flawless, trailer-only show car - it's a nicely
equipped, heavily serviced Buick convertible with a great deal of
the expensive mechanical and chassis work already completed. The
combination of the 350 V8, TH350, fresh interior, new convertible
top, Magnum 500-style wheels, and extensively rebuilt chassis makes
this Skylark a car you can get in, drop the top, and enjoy while
still having plenty of room to make it your own.
